Preparing for today's Blue Archive Plana cosplay Sailor suit White background photography took nearly two weeks, from makeup tests to the actual shoot. Because Plana's costume design is inherently minimalist, capturing depth in the contrast between black fabric and a white scarf inside a pure white studio is surprisingly challenging. Therefore, I emphasized the eye contours in today's makeup, applying subtle glitter and reddish eyeshadow along the lower eyelids so that my face would retain defined three-dimensionality even under even studio lighting. The wig was also trimmed and smoothed out well in advance, with the small braid on the left secured in place using hairspray to ensure it wouldn't fly around during dynamic poses.

I had the Sailor suit tailored specifically for a snug fit; the black sailor collar adorned with a ring and triangle motif is the very soul of the outfit. I also tested the scarf's length and knotting placement several times, ultimately opting for a slightly looser knot so it wouldn't look overly stiff. For the lower half, black form-fitting shorts are layered over white undershort trims, creating a black-and-white layered effect that is especially noticeable when seated. A distinctive detail today was wearing over-the-knee Black stockings; although the outfit itself is fairly modest and covered, pairing it with Black stockings against the pure white studio backdrop instantly brought out the leg lines and striking contrast.

During shooting, the photographer's lighting setup relied primarily on broad soft light, minimizing harsh shadows to preserve that clean, translucent aesthetic typical of Japanese portraiture. The white backdrop seamless was pristine, but wearing black clothes in a white cyclorama studio easily makes the silhouette look flat, so I put significant thought into adjusting my postures. For instance, when sitting with crossed legs, keeping the back straight allowed the curves to show in profile; when clasping hands behind my head, opening the shoulders and engaging my core helped reveal dimension in what would otherwise be a fairly boxy Sailor suit. Standing on the floor, I deliberately pointed my insteps to elongate my leg proportions; although being barefoot felt a bit cold and hard on the feet, seeing the striking contrast between the Black stockings and the white floor in the final shots made it feel completely worthwhile.

Holding the red halo prop, I spent a lot of time finding the right placement, because even with support brackets, shifting center of gravity easily interfered with head movements. After trying several angles, tilting the halo slightly toward the side and back of my head—paired with looking down or glancing subtly upward—yielded the most natural look. Between takes, we adjusted the lighting ratios: because the black silky fabric could easily produce excessive glare, tweaking the output ratio between key and fill lights allowed us to preserve the shadow details of the garment.

Today's overall shooting pace was tight and focused; from pose coaching to detail tweaks, every step aimed to lend Plana a tangible sense of realism in 3D reality. Wrapping up and getting ready to change now—while the pairing of this Sailor suit and Black stockings looks fantastic on camera, shooting all afternoon was indeed tiring, and I definitely need a warm foot bath to unwind when I get home.
