[La Pluma cosplay] A Tactical Girl Without Her Scythe, Amidst the Geometric Light and Shadow of Foshan Fang Tower

This shoot at Foshan Fang Tower was originally intended to recreate the character's everyday state. Considering that I didn't bring the heavy scythe prop, I decided to try a more grounded approach to convey another facet of her temperament. Without that iconic weapon, I felt lighter and a bit cuter overall, which gave us much more creative freedom in posing.

The location chosen for this shoot was Foshan Fang Tower, whose architectural geometry is truly breathtaking. Massive greyish-white concrete lattice grids on both sides formed a fantastic natural frame, with the blue sky peeking through the center resembling a cinematic "narrow sky" composition. To perfectly capture this spatial weight and sense of depth, photographer NightDiva used a wide-angle lens with low-angle shots throughout the entire Cosplay photography session, allowing the character's proportions to stand out sharply within the geometric lines of the image.

I paid close attention to the details of this tactical look. The black-and-grey tactical vest paired with techwear straps and fingerless gloves delivers a sleek, capable visual impression. The black leg straps and platform sandals on the lower body, while a bit clunky to walk around in during an outdoor shoot, effectively lengthened my leg proportions under wide-angle perspective, creating a balance that feels both hardcore and stylish in this Techwear outfit. Mid-shoot, we spotted a black metal folding stool on site; the photographer had a sudden spark of inspiration and asked me to sit on it, unexpectedly producing cinematic shots with one leg extended that amplified the visual tension against the cold ambient light.

The light contrast that day was extremely sharp, with dark shadows cast by the tower's lattice grids contrasting against the bright sky above. Handling this high dynamic range, we used diffused natural light to illuminate my face and outfit while preserving shadow details in the background architecture, resulting in a cool, stark atmosphere. The black fur-collared jacket and light green glossy long cape came in handy as well; when the wind blew, the fluttering cape added dynamic energy to the static architectural scenery. I experimented with arm-crossed standing poses, playful single-leg lifts, and subtle daily-life gestures like using a toothbrush prop, striving to convey a more vivid character emotion while remaining faithful to her personality in Arknights.

The idea behind this set is that sometimes making subtraction—like taking away the weapon—can lead to pleasant surprises. For a Techwear outfit style like this, shooting on location among urban concrete structures often brings out a sense of realism and storytelling much more effectively than a pure studio shoot. Freed from the weight of the weapon, I felt able to explore more possibilities of this character's everyday life, which is perhaps another joy of cosplay beyond faithful recreation.
