Shooting this formal dress Mutsuki look on Day 2 of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo during the May Day holiday completely maximized the visual impact of the red-and-white color scheme. While retaining Asagi Mutsuki's iconic signature elements, the design of this formal dress incorporates plenty of wearable yet visually striking casual dress details. I was filled with anticipation right from the preparation stage, and being able to wear this look to interact with everyone at the venue was a truly special experience.

Let's start with the core of this outfit: the combination of the red slip dress and the white faux fur shawl. The cut of the red dress has a nice layered feel without looking overly puffy, and the bow ornament at the belt beautifully accentuates the waistline. The addition of the fur shawl breaks up the monotony of a solid color, making the entire shoulder area look more voluminous. Especially under the indoor lighting of the convention, the fluffy texture forms a sharp contrast with the smooth red fabric. The large expanse of white fur acts as a natural softbox, greatly elevating the sophistication of the entire look.

For the lower body, it was paired with black fishnets and black patent leather block-heel Mary Janes. The hollowed-out texture of the fishnets perfectly echoes the character's signature blend of a slightly mischievous yet playful aura, while also visually elongating the leg proportions. The black block-heel shoes are exceptionally stable, so walking around the convention all day wasn't too tiring, and the glossy finish of the patent leather added to the overall gorgeousness when paired with the red dress. This combination balances the aesthetic appeal of the costume with an extension of the character setting, giving the entire look both a 2D anime cuteness and real-world fashion elements.

A lot of thought was also put into the accessories. To fit the character design, I wore elf ears and a black headband, with the red geometric patterns on the headband serving as a top accent that anchors the visual center of gravity of the look. The hairstyle features long, silvery-white curls falling naturally to frame the face beautifully. The black choker around my neck is a crucial piece; it provides a focal point for the negative space around the neckline, preventing it from looking too bare. The white rose held in my hand for the final photos served as a brilliant highlight for the entire ensemble, achieving a wonderful color harmony.

The on-site shooting process was incredibly pleasant. Many thanks to the photographer for his patient guidance—he proactively adjusted angles based on the venue's lighting, such as capturing natural light in front of floor-to-ceiling glass windows and using the hall's depth to compose frames in the panoramic main hall. Since the convention crowd was massive during the May Day holiday, we specifically chose a relatively open and well-lit corridor area, which allowed us to borrow depth of field from the background while avoiding a cluttered scene. The final photo set features dynamic walking candid shots as well as static look-backs and sitting close-ups, beautifully showcasing the flowing skirt and the intricate accessory details.

The atmosphere at this Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was absolutely amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised by everyone's love for this formal dress Mutsuki look. Although the convention schedule was tight and required rushing between different photo spots, all the exhaustion melted away the moment I stood in the hall wearing this outfit and felt the passion of the crowd. To a coser, every character portrayal isn't just about replicating an appearance; it's about trying to find a unique moment for the look through costume redesign and the light and shadow of the scene within the character's original framework. With this formal dress Mutsuki, I hope to convey this comfortable and slightly proud feeling to everyone who sees it.
