This time, I've finally brought the character Runami Yachiyo from Cosmic Princess Kaguya! into reality. To recreate her iconic white double-loop buns and long ponytail, the wig was styled with extreme care, making the roots and the flow of the hair strands match the lightweight feel of the original design as much as possible. The eye makeup was specially tuned to a cooler blue tone to echo the pupils, while the lip color was chosen as a matte texture with a hint of brick red, giving the overall makeup a detailed 2D look without appearing too fake. The pink dumpling creature in my hand is truly the soul prop of this shoot. It looks completely round, but during the actual sewing process, shaping cotton and support frames were used inside to hold up its unique silhouette. Holding it during the photoshoot required precise angle control to make it look alive. As for the costume, the modified red and blue color-blocked Japanese-style cosplay outfit paired with golden hair accessories was a bit chilly outdoors due to the off-the-shoulder design, but it was totally worth it for that refreshing visual look. The lighting that day was incredibly supportive. The side backlighting struck the white hair to form a soft ring of halo, which, combined with the warm yellow ambient light in the background, fully maximized the overall atmosphere of the photos. During the shoot, I actually tried several different poses to display the character's timeless composure while maintaining an interactive feel with this pink little monster. In the end, I chose this slightly tilted head and lazy gaze, which I feel perfectly captured that sense of destiny after 'waiting for eight thousand years.' As a cosplay enthusiast, every finished set of photos is a recreation based on my understanding of the character. A lot of thought went into this project, from prop making to makeup adjustments, and I hope everyone can feel the unique charm of this character through this Anime-style photography share.
