[Sunna cosplay] The outdoor photography record of a mint-colored girl

This time I did this look for Sunna cosplay; I had been wanting to try this kind of style that leans toward a sweet-cool outfit for a long time. The wig chosen is a mint green wig. Because the color is quite bright, the ends of the hair were flipped outward for a fluffy treatment, and when combined with the side patches and horn accessories, the overall look came together instantly. The most time-consuming part of the costume is the asymmetric leg design—one side features white over-the-knee socks with a pink leather leg ring, while the other side features pink striped slouch socks. This asymmetry actually makes the visual center of gravity more stable and makes it easy to adjust standing poses during the shoot. The small red heart pattern on the tie and the yellow and blue color-blocked pendants at the waist are the bright highlights of the entire look. To match this color scheme, the prop gun was also specially painted with a white base, a pink flared muzzle, and mint green spikes; it feels quite heavy in hand but has a great presence in photos.

The light was exceptionally good on the day of the outdoor photography session, and we chose an outdoor terrace with metal railings and glass curtain walls. This background with rigid geometric lines contrasts with the character's soft macaron color palette, making the character pop out more. During the shoot, we tried four different standing poses: the first one with the gun raised sideways was mainly to elongate the leg lines and showcase the side details of the gun; the second one with hands on hips leaning forward was to highlight expressions and the cut of the top; the third one with a lowered center of gravity holding the gun simulated a combat feel, though it actually heavily tested core strength; the fourth one with one hand holding the gun hanging down naturally was a "lazy style" suggested by the photographer, which instead looked more casual. The entire shooting process took about an hour and a half. The most exhausting part was maintaining those seemingly relaxed standing poses, because I had to control the skirt from being messed up by the wind while ensuring the angle of the prop gun didn't block my face.

For the makeup, I chose light-colored contacts and a cool-toned blush, which, paired with the light-colored wig, avoided a mask-like look under natural light. Actually, when doing a roleplay of a character with anime attributes, besides restoring the costume, it's more important to capture that temperament between playful and cool. I'm very grateful to the photographer for the candid shots this time, especially since the texture of the hair edges under backlighting was fully preserved. The holding angle of the prop gun was adjusted many times because the barrel is thick; tipping it even slightly would block half of my face. Later, we found that holding it high while sideways or aiming from a low angle looked best. Additionally, this combination of platform shoes and slouch socks is highly practical during outdoor shoots, removing any worries about uneven ground affecting the standing pose.

Although I was covered in sweat after the shoot, seeing that the colors and details in the final photos were all spot on made me feel that the prior preparations were not in vain. The ruffles and striped elements of the costume stood out beautifully in the sunlight, especially the pairing of the pink suspenders and the white shirt, which looked crisp yet not monotonous. If you also want to try a similar style, I suggest focusing on three points: the wig's color saturation and hair end direction, the asymmetric layering of the legs, and the color coordination between the props and the clothing. This shoot also gave me more insights into this kind of light sci-fi girl style. In future location shoots, we can make more use of this transparent glass reflection and metal lines, which will give the frame more spatial depth.
