Putting together this Honor of Kings Luna cosplay 'Lifetime Love' photo set took considerable effort, primarily because she is my signature hero and I really wanted to bring out the magnificent aura of the red-and-gold color scheme.
The focus of this look was on the headdress and the red dress. The red pom-poms and gold trim on the headdress are exquisite; it carries noticeable weight, requiring steady neck support. The costume is a modified Traditional style cosplay outfit featuring wide sleeves, a slit long skirt, and light pink floating ribbons. To complement the overall aesthetic, red-soled high heels were chosen to elongate the leg lines.
For the Outdoor photography location, we chose an ancient architectural building surrounded by plum blossoms, using the lush branches as foreground framing. Backlighting was primarily used on set to create halo effects; the wind was relatively strong, giving the billowing skirt and ribbons great visual tension. We took several snapshots of jumping and sleeve-waving motions, ultimately selecting the most expansive silhouette pose—a centered composition where the leg lines peek through the high-slit skirt, showcasing the sensual allure of the costume design.
For makeup, reddish-purple eyeshadow was paired with bold red lips, combined with a cold, resolute gaze to embody the character's innate pride. During shooting, I communicated lighting and angles with the photographer to catch the peak moment of rim backlighting, which gave hair strands a luminous contour while revealing the sheer translucency of the pink tulle. Before the sunset faded, we also shot seated poses and close-ups, conveying more nuanced emotions through facial expressions.
The red fabric of this costume offers wonderful texture with great sheen under good lighting. Walking under plum blossom trees in this outfit let me genuinely feel the character's aloof yet domineering temperament. Because of the rich details and substantial fabric, it was quite warm to wear in summer, but seeing the light, shadow, and lines in the final photos made all the effort truly worthwhile.
