When shooting this Chinatsu Remiel cosplay, the chunky volume of the mint green wig and the crisp straight bangs were the first elements we finalized. To make the entire head look full and layered, internal support was added, and the outer curls were styled with extra fluffiness. The square heart-patterned hair clip and black hollow-heart accessory on top instantly amplified the character's unique charm. Under indoor lighting, the warm and cool tones of the hair color showed a creamy texture, perfectly matching the description of a "mint cupcake."
For the makeup, I opted for vibrant reddish-pink contact lenses and slender, winged black eyeliner, paired with blush and an orange-pink lip tone. This maintained a doll-like vibe without letting the wig color wash out my complexion. Wanting to keep the look from becoming cakey, I kept the base makeup clean and only slightly contoured the eye sockets. This fresh yet subtly sweet makeup style feels exceptionally fitting for the contrasting combo of a crisp white shirt and a red tie.
The garment's design provides the core recognizable identity of this piece. The white ruffled short-sleeve shirt has a natural puffiness, with the collar styled to stand upright with crisp structure. The red-and-white polka-dot tie pops vividly against the chest, with a small white bird motif at the bottom adding a playful touch. The black hollow-heart outline patch on the shirt front and the studded choker around the neck inject a touch of rebellious black-and-pink aesthetic into the sweetness. Combined with bright pink backpack straps, this color-blocking style captures the essence of everyday Anime-style fashion, with the blend of diverse elements firmly grounding the character's persona.
During the shoot, I worked with two distinct angles. The first photo is a top-down wide-angle Anime style selfie perspective, paired with peace signs or cheek-poking poses, along with a hand-drawn heart doodle in the upper left corner added in post-production. This maximized the cute ambiance of the outfit while clearly displaying the pink striped cuffs and pink leg accessory details. The second photo uses an eye-level close-up angle, pulling visual focus back to facial features and the details of the shirt and tie, with a wide aperture blurring the background for a cleaner composition.
Throughout the shoot, I constantly fine-tuned the wig bangs to keep them from obscuring the colored contacts, while ensuring the tie remained straight. This refreshing Mint color scheme is quite sensitive to lighting; indoor soft light is ideal for rendering gentle portrait skin textures, keeping the mint green tones from looking overly harsh. I also paid close attention to hand placements and overall framing, since selfie angles can easily distort facial proportions or crop edges awkwardly, so I deliberately dialed in the angle to present the best upper-body silhouette.
This shoot aimed to express that refreshing yet subtly sweet essence of a "mint cupcake" through the lens, striving to stay true to the character's aesthetic from the wig and Cosplay outfit to the overall visual color palette. The bottom half was anchored with a black layered ruffled skirt, maintaining a grounded visual center of gravity. Throughout my years of cosplaying, this Mint color scheme look for Chinatsu Remiel truly offered a distinct shooting experience, leaving a lasting impression with its lighting and color harmony.
