[Vivian cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Being Lord Phaethon for a Day at Shenzhen AMM Comic Con

These Cosplay convention photos from Day 1 of Shenzhen AMM Comic Con Dimension Wave are finally sorted out! Huge thanks to photographer @WandaiVaandie and makeup artist @LinQianyang.

The efficiency of this shoot, from styling to the final shots, was astonishingly high. The makeup artist's technique was remarkably skilled—the elf ear prosthetics blended seamlessly, and the facial contouring and lighting immediately put me in character. I was initially worried that the strand of bangs and the bow hair accessory on top might look cumbersome, but in practice, they integrated seamlessly with the overall styling. The photographer was incredibly adept at capturing candid moments; as someone who isn't great at actively finding the camera, simply following the positioning instructions produced amazing shots. Being able to get great photos with just basic "NPC-like" standing or sitting was such a breezy and enjoyable experience.

For props, I brought a purple-and-black long-handle umbrella and a white suitcase. The umbrella's design was full of flair—whether opened up as a background element as seen in the pictures, closed to serve as a cane, or carried over the shoulder, it brought out the character's aura, and the handle had a great tactile feel. The white suitcase was a lifesaver during the shoot; it served as a practical temporary seat and acted as a perfectly fitting thematic prop, making the seated shots (especially in Photo 3) look completely natural with smooth transitions between opening and closing the umbrella. The ground outside the venue was damp and reflective after the rain, which gave the shots an unexpectedly rich texture.

In truth, my schedule was quite rushed on the convention day. I didn't enter the hall until 3 PM and thought we might run out of time. However, thanks to good prior communication, the shooting process went exceptionally smoothly, flowing in one seamless take. The speed and quality of the photos far exceeded expectations, allowing me to fully immerse myself even in that brief window—it was truly worth it. Speaking of which, I'd like to apologize to everyone: I didn't have time to remove my previous nail polish, nor did I prepare suitable press-on nails for the set. The photographer astutely avoided close-ups that might highlight the mismatch, but a few spots still showed through, slightly affecting the visuals. I hope you can overlook this small flaw, and I'll definitely prepare these details in advance next time.

Additionally, some may notice that my facial expressions weren't very varied—I mostly maintained a calm, relatively neutral composure without forcing exaggerated expressions or over-emoting. On one hand, I felt this slightly aloof, quiet demeanor better suited this Black tights outfit and the overall aesthetic; on the other hand, I personally don't like over-exerting myself in front of the lens. Fortunately, both the photographer and makeup artist completely understood my approach and didn't push for forced expressions. The resulting shots looked much cleaner and crisper—this is probably the effortless relaxation we were aiming for.

My deepest takeaway from this experience is that great styling and photography truly resolve more than half of a cosplayer's worries. Although I prepared the wig and costume for a long time, I was still somewhat inexperienced with posing. Yet with such seamless teamwork, despite entering late, the final Cosplay convention photos definitely lived up to my expectations. It was a joyful and efficient offline photoshoot, and I hope to keep refining my cosplay details in the future to make every offline convention experience even more fulfilling.
