Shooting this Wuthering Waves Chisa swimsuit Cosplay photoshoot involved a great deal of homework from preparation through to execution. First, regarding the design of the outfit: it features a pink-and-white checkered fabric throughout, highlighted by a massive, semi-sheer pink flower on the chest that instantly catches the eye. To enhance the layering, white criss-cross straps detail the neckline and waistline, while ruffled arm sleeves accented with tiny blossoms adorn the arms, matched with a coordinating miniskirt and white belt below. The headwear is a white beret trimmed with a pink ribbon. This coordination visually channels the casual ease of a summer getaway while preserving the character's distinct identity.
For hair and makeup, to complement Chisa's character design, I specifically chose pink contact lenses. The eye makeup emphasized pink eyeshadow and soft blush, paired with naturally muted lips to keep the overall look sheer and sweet. The wig is long straight black hair with blunt bangs tied into low twintails, accented with white floral hair clips beside the ears. Topped with the white beret, the head styling was complete.
The studio set was arranged with incredible care. The floor was laid with mirrored panels, reflecting both subject and props to create visual depth. In the background stood a table draped with a yellow-and-white checkered tablecloth, holding a vintage dual-speaker cassette radio, a baguette, a glass filled with yellow beverage, and several beverage bottles. Around the space were blue-and-white striped inflatable swim rings, blue and white balloons, faux green watermelons, tropical potted plants, and white Roman columns. While packed with props, the color harmony created a distinctly refreshing seaside atmosphere.
Throughout the shoot, I explored a variety of poses. Lounging on a wooden folding deck chair, I angled my body with one leg naturally bent and an arm resting gently on the swim ring, taking advantage of the mirrored floor's reflections to enrich the composition. For floor seated shots, stretching one leg forward with both hands resting over the knees highlighted the leg lines beautifully. The photographer continually fine-tuned the lighting to keep the frame bright without blowing out highlights, preserving the textures of both fabric and skin.
With so many props in play, staging and framing required constant adjustments—for example, placing the cassette player and bread so they didn't obscure the body, while arranging the balloons and swim rings in staggered depth. To capture candid expressions and natural body language, we took plenty of burst shots. The swimsuit's lightweight fabric showed a soft, gentle sheen under studio lights. Overall, this shoot harmoniously blended costume accuracy, set design, and character portrayal, resulting in a delightfully crisp, refreshing Studio portrait.
