[Tsukishiro Yanagi cosplay] Section Chief Yanagi from Zenless Zone Zero is here to inspect your desk!

Shooting this set of Tsukishiro Yanagi cosplay photos was such an engaging experience. Right from the initial chat with photographer @RickBin, we unanimously agreed on a studio shoot with a pure white background, as that clean aesthetic brings out the crisp textures of Section Chief Yanagi's uniform and tactical gear best. To faithfully portray Yanagi, I spent a lot of time preparing in advance—from styling the wig to tracking down her iconic round-frame glasses, down to the tactical utility belt and thigh straps, ensuring every detail aligned with her official design.

What draws me to Tsukishiro Yanagi isn't just her elegant yet subtly mischievous aura, but her sharp efficiency as a Deputy Section Chief. To bring out that charming corporate-worker contrast, we put serious effort into the props. Her polearm weapon has real physical heft, so posing with it turned into quite a workout. Especially for shots one and three, supporting the weapon's weight while holding an icy, composed expression required clenching muscles behind the scenes. Yet the moment the shutter fired, that effortless composure typical of Section Chief Yanagi had to remain unshaken.

Between takes, I kept pondering her micro-expressions. Normally, she appears exceptionally disciplined and meticulous—reading through dossiers at her desk with an aura that commands quiet respect. But remembering how she constantly craves bean paste buns brings out an adorable gap-moe beneath that cool exterior. In shots two and four, where I sit in the office chair flipping through documents, I infused a touch of languid nonchalance. Crossing my legs in heeled ankle boots while surrounded by office furniture felt halfway between pulling overtime reviewing files and sizing up a target.

As for the outfit itself, the shirt carries a wonderfully crisp drape. Paired with black suspenders, shorts, and harness-style leg straps, it yields striking visual tension and clean lines. The black gloves were an essential finishing touch, giving my hands substance so that handling the polearm or holding paperwork looked instantly convincing. For footwear, I deliberately chose boots with metallic buckle hardware; while standing in heels all day was exhausting, it was well worth it for the sleek ankle silhouette and commanding presence.

The trickiest part was definitely the gaze. Section Chief Yanagi's eyes are unique—sharp enough for a strict inspection, yet laced with effortless composure. We adjusted it over and over, and the straight-out-of-camera results largely hit my expectations. There are bound to be moments of OOC since everyone interprets a character differently, but this attempt strived to capture both her rational side and her grounded, everyday charm. Seeing the final edits melted away all that fatigue.

A lot of friends keep asking when Deputy Section Chief Yanagi will get a rerun, and honestly, I'm waiting too. Encountering such a charismatic Meganekko character in Zenless Zone Zero made this one of my most challenging yet rewarding cosplay photoshoots to date. It was demanding, but seeing myself transformed in the final shots made every bit of effort worth it. Hope everyone enjoys this take on Tsukishiro Yanagi!
