[Xishi cosplay] Honor of Kings: Bestow the Most Valuable Treasure to the Most Cherished Person

Today, the character I'm portraying is Xishi from Honor of Kings. Let's start with the garment fabrics and construction: the outfit is anchored in a crisp palette of white and pastel blue. The top features a mandarin collar with a teardrop keyhole cut-out at the chest, accented by a light blue ribbon bow at the neckline that looks remarkably breezy. The lower waist transitions into deep navy panels, adorned at the chest and hips with leaf-shaped metal hardware in silver and light green—details that catch the sunlight with exquisite texture. The detached sleeves alternate between white and pale blue with diamond cut-outs, offering breathability while adding distinct visual layering. The gloves are pure white, requiring careful smoothing to preserve the airy lightness of hand movements.

For hairstyling, to faithfully recreate Xishi's design, I wore a short black wig with blunt bangs, leaving face-framing strands on both sides to flatter facial contours. A white headband was added to the crown, flanked by light blue bows with cascading tassels and bead strings. When walking, the tassels sway gently with every motion, infusing lively dynamism. For makeup, I selected reddish-brown contact lenses paired with pink-toned eye makeup to cultivate a warm, playful aura, completed with a vibrant lip tint to ensure smiles looked bright and radiant.

The prop served as a key focal point of this shoot. In my right hand, I carried a large pink prop resembling a blooming flower or crystalline burst made of semi-translucent chiffon or acrylic, trailing blue beaded tassels from its base. To hold it steadily while maintaining an elegant posture, I rehearsed wrist angles and balance multiple times beforehand.

The location was chosen along a traditional architectural corridor framed by wooden pillars and crossbeams. Lush greenery and trees formed the background, where shallow depth of field melted the foliage into a natural living canvas. The lighting was exceptionally bright with natural sunny daylight; the overall exposure leaned high-key with a cool bias, which was tailor-made for the blue-and-white attire, conjuring a crisp, dreamlike mood.

Regarding posing and expression management: in the first shot, I faced the lens directly with my left arm curved naturally, flashing a confident smile; in the second shot, I turned slightly in profile, lightly touching my chin with my left hand while engaging the camera with a darling, playful gaze. Because Xishi's iconic in-game line is 'bestow the most valuable treasure to the most cherished person,' throughout the shoot I continually focused on conveying this heartfelt warmth to the viewer through my eyes and smile.

Preparing this cosplay took considerable dedication—from steaming garments and trimming the wig to refining micro-details of makeup, every step demanded patience. Integrating the prop seamlessly into the overarching aesthetic was especially important so it never felt out of place. The weather on shooting day was glorious with ample sunlight, though preventing overexposure required vigilance. I constantly conferred with the photographer, exploring diverse perspectives to seize the most natural, unforced moments. I hope this share lets everyone feel Xishi's vivacity and gentle grace.

Xishi possesses a singular charm in Honor of Kings: she is not merely a legendary historical beauty, but an agile, intelligent maiden brimming with wit and vitality in the game. In my interpretation, I couldn't settle for looking pretty alone; her breezy, energetic spirit had to shine through. When my gaze met the lens, keeping my eyes bright and filled with a smile prevented expressions from falling flat. On garment details, I double-checked the metal accents at the chest and waist to ensure they didn't flare with excessive glare or shift askew before the camera. The diamond cut-outs on the sleeves needed to conform cleanly to the arm's contours, so I continuously adjusted my arm curvature during shots to keep lines fluid. Afraid of missing magical frames, the photographer clicked the shutter tirelessly as I shifted angles. The scenery along the covered bridge was breathtaking—when a gentle breeze swept through, the tassels on the hairpins swayed softly, hitting the exact right note. Blending traditional cultural motifs with contemporary game characters is precisely what makes cosplay so fascinating. Having the opportunity to manifest Xishi's elegance made this entire Ancient style photoshoot process a true joy.
