The Wuthering Waves booth at BW 2026 was teeming with incredible energy; this time, my partner Shi Menglu and I brought a Yangyang cosplay and Suisui cosplay to the floor. To prepare for this showcase, we invested immense time into the costumes and props. From the moment the design drafts were finalized, we were constantly sourcing the most suitable fabrics to recreate the substantial weight and layered textures of the characters. For my Yangyang outfit, the black-and-white color-blocking and deep blue gradients were the primary focus of tailoring; the waist cords and metallic ornaments were all hand-sewn, balancing striking visual authenticity with durability for walking around the convention. The wig was also meticulously groomed: with a jet-black base and vibrant blue streaks framing the forehead, every strand was sculpted to project pristine three-dimensional definition before the camera in this Anime-style photography showcase.
Shi Menglu's Suisui styling was equally challenging: her golden wig required extensive setting and hold, while the golden filigree patterns and translucent fabrics on her dress were cleverly harmonized. The golden translucent prop in her hands caught and reflected the stage lighting with exceptional brilliance. Standing side by side, positioned left and right, our colors and silhouettes formed both a striking contrast and harmonious synergy. To complement the booth's set design, we experimented with diverse staging positions. For instance, holding the crimson oiled-paper umbrella in my left hand and angling the canopy tilted the color dynamics, leveraging the red-blue contrast to intensify visual punch. Because the skirt features an asymmetrical hem, posing required angling my torso slightly or extending one leg forward, which not only highlighted the tailored cut of the costume, but also visually elongated my silhouette on camera.
We collaborated with numerous photographers on site. While the booth featured strong overhead spotlights, we frequently relied on ambient fill to sculpt our contours. To capture the finest kinetic nuances, we continually fine-tuned our grip on the umbrella, our eyelines, and the interactive distance between us. Suisui lightly resting her hand on my arm—these subtle touches of physical contact made the frames feel far more organic and spontaneous, perfectly fitting our close bond. Occasionally, to capture the fleeting flutter of a skirt hem in motion, we repeated stances multiple times; though balancing in high heels beneath hefty accessories was physically demanding, previewing the images on camera screens instantly made every ounce of effort feel worthwhile.
Fans and photographers at the venue were wonderfully passionate, queuing up courteously in front of the booth. Between shifting poses, we shared quick feedback on which angles yielded the best shots—for example, keeping the spine tall and straight when standing sideways to better accentuate the dress's contours. The crimson oiled-paper umbrella served not only as a prop, but as an effective compositional tool, breaking horizontal lines to add depth and layering. After a full day of shooting, though physically tired, our spirits were soaring. Bringing these two characters from Wuthering Waves to life at BW 2026 and meeting everyone was deeply fulfilling. The craftsmanship and styling finish met all our expectations, particularly the gradient dyes and textural contrasts captured so faithfully on camera.
