For the milestone of the 7th anniversary, after nursing the idea for a long time, I finally integrated the tactical theme of Strategic Meltdown into the costume, props, and photoshoot. From color coordination to prop handling, the original intention was to fully maximize that sharp, piercing edge.
When deciding on this outfit, the greatest effort went into the presentation of the hair accessories and hair color. On top of long black hair, we applied extensive fluorescent green gradient highlights; especially under low light or backlighting, the hair ends and edges emit a remarkably translucent fluorescent glow. The pair of black horns with green tips on top is another major highlight. We chose semi-translucent resin for the material, so when the studio lights hit them on set, the edges produce a subtle breathing luminescence, perfectly matching the character's blend of technological and biological aesthetics.
In terms of fabrics and tailoring, I deliberately selected diverse materials for layering. The green camisole top uses a subtly lustrous silk-like fabric, which—paired with a black leather corset—balances toughness with softness. The outer coat is the true soul of the look: the oversized black trench coat needs ample flowing grace while harmonizing with the white-and-green paneled inner lining to create color depth. To fit the theme, I added tactical straps and leather pouches to the waist and thighs, and the long black gloves extend up the forearm, creating crisp line work when gripping the metallic ring prop. The small red pendant at the waist was actually meant to break the coldness of the predominant black, white, and green palette, injecting a bright accent into the overall composition.
The shoot took place at night on an outdoor stone stairway. Ambient lighting interference was significant, but we opted for high-positioned rim lighting from the side-rear—essentially a backlighting technique. Under this lighting setup, the character's silhouette is strongly accentuated, especially when the wind kicks up, sending the collar flaps and hair strands fluttering dynamically, instantly bringing forth that cool, formidable aura.
In posing, I explored several distinct emotional expressions. In the first full-body shot standing astride the steps with one arm raised high, the goal was to unleash full commanding presence—planting my boots firmly and letting the trench coat hem flare open. The second is a close-up, mainly aiming to convey quiet, authoritative composure through my gaze and the placement of the metallic ring. The third looking-back shot tested physical coordination, requiring me to hold a torso twist while ensuring the back of the coat and hair ends draped or billowed in an aesthetically pleasing curve.
Actually, effectively portraying a tactical character backed by grand lore is no easy feat; getting the costume right is only half the battle, as it requires true character presence to carry it. I didn't deliberately try to create an overly sweet or sugary vibe—even if labeled a "Cute girl," I wanted to showcase the character's resolute and decisive nature. Perhaps this gap-contrast is an interpretation of style in its own right. From preparing costumes and adjusting wigs to scouting angles and catching candid movement on set, the entire process was physically demanding, but seeing all elements come together in the lens with such high fidelity made it truly satisfying.
