This White Rabbit Amiya shoot was actually photographed last year. For various reasons, I had held off on sorting through the files, but looking back at them now, the styling still feels delightful and fresh.
The original motivation behind this set was straightforward: I wanted to explore an Amiya design infused with maid outfit cosplay elements. Once in hand, the costume proved even more delicate than anticipated. The foundation is a blue plaid one-piece dress accented with red line piping along the collar and cuffs, layered under a white lace apron with beautifully executed scalloped hems and lace ruffles. To honor the concept, I selected a brown twintails wig with blunt bangs, secured with vibrant blue bow hairpieces adorned with pearls. The plush rabbit ears carried wonderful tactile volume, requiring careful adjustments to sit naturally on camera. For the eyes, vivid blue lenses were chosen to inject a touch of fantasy allure.
For lower-body styling, I opted for white stockings paired with black Mary Jane shoes. The short hemline combined with the white stockings visually elongated the leg proportions while reinforcing the quintessential charm of anime-style characters. In makeup, alongside a clean base, I accentuated the eye styling with deeper contours to complement the blue contacts and ensure an expressive, alert gaze.
The shoot was split across two distinct settings. The first was an aged wooden staircase overgrown with moss, where the ambient atmosphere was rather dim. To isolate the subject, we implemented contrasting warm and cool illumination, with a cool accent light from the left cutting cleanly through the gloom. The wood was weathered and coarse; after testing several postures on the steps, I settled on crossing my legs while raising one hand in a gentle paw-like claw, looking straight into the lens to capture a mysterious yet playful ambiance.
The second scene leaned into vintage rustic interior decor—white wooden tables, lace tablecloths, and antique sideboards setting a serene stage. Seated on a chair, I held a green apple as an interactive prop, letting my gaze drift into a soft daze while my other hand rested naturally on the table. With abundant daylight from the window, skin tones rendered far softer and creamier here.
As a cosplayer, the most exhausting aspects are always pre-production prep and on-set endurance. To keep poses from looking rigid, I continually test micro-adjustments before the lens—relaxing the shoulders or fine-tuning finger curls. In post-processing, I preserved the cool tones of the mossy staircase alongside the warm hues of the indoor set for a deliberate contrast. Though captured a year ago, revisiting these shots brings back the pure joy of that day, and I hope this love for the character shines through every frame.
