[March 7th cosplay & Dan Heng] The Bund night view cosplay: Honkai: Star Rail Night Photoshoot Log

The night wind at the Bund was very strong, and the ambient light was quite complex. To ensure high visual quality for this Honkai: Star Rail team cosplay, controlling the lighting ratio became the most crucial part of the shoot. We used two lights plus a reflector to separate the characters' silhouettes from the background neon lights as much as possible.
This time we brought out March 7th, Dan Heng, along with Teng Huang, Chang Yeyue, and March 7th (The Hunt) for a 5-person group photoset. Everyone had distinct styling and quite a lot of equipment. I wore one of the black dress variants; to match the night lighting of the Bund, the black stockings cosplay and leather accessories showed great texture under the flash, but they were also prone to distracting glare. We had to constantly adjust our angles to avoid harsh light spots.
Hair and makeup took considerable time, especially securing the wigs and headpieces. In the strong wind, wigs easily got disheveled, so between takes we were constantly busy using hairspray and clips to keep the styles intact. The signature props for Dan Heng and March 7th were also heavy, and carrying them back and forth along the Bund exhausted our stamina much faster than expected.
We put a lot of thought into the specific positioning. Because roadside railings and steps can easily disrupt compositions, we coordinated staggered levels to maintain character interaction while ensuring no one was overshadowed by the background lighting. Throughout the shoot, we helped each other straighten garments, adjust skirts, and align the black stockings and leg straps to present our best state before the camera.
There were many pedestrians on site, and we often had to wait for them to pass before shooting. This slowed our tempo slightly, but gave us more time to check the frame for any costume slips. In post-production, we focused primarily on refining skin texture and cleaning up the busy Bund background, preserving the authentic ambiance of the night scene while making the characters stand out three-dimensionally.
After wrapping up, everyone packed up gear and tidied wigs and clothes. The banter during the shoot added so much joy to an otherwise grueling night shoot. This photoset serves as a solid culmination of our recent preparations, and the overall result feels quite gratifying.
