Today at Firefly ACG Expo Day 1, I cosplayed Sparkle from Honkai: Star Rail at the Master Kong booth. Preparations for this outfit began well in advance: the red-and-black argyle pattern, the white scalloped lace along the neckline, and that black mini top hat dangling spade and club charms were all cross-referenced meticulously with her canon design. The wig was specifically styled into long pink-and-white twin tails with braided accents to give the silhouette extra dimensional depth. For makeup, reddish-pink eyeshadow and blush were highlighted to present Sparkle's delightfully mischievous yet slightly enigmatic aura on camera. The costume itself is packed with accessories: the white bunny plushie wearing a mini top hat on the waist, the golden bell, and the red tassels jingled pleasantly with every step, which was super fun. However, because the sleeves feature wide kimono-style furisode cuts, moving around the booth and posing required cautious awareness to avoid bumping into adjacent product displays. The Master Kong booth backdrop was adorned with vibrant yellow pedestals and Master Kong Iced Tea bottles; the high color saturation formed a brilliant contrast against this red-and-black ensemble, yielding dazzling photographic results.

During the shoot, the photographer suggested sitting on the booth steps or leaning forward into the frame. At first, the expansive skirt and long sleeves felt a bit cumbersome, but after a few adjustments, bending forward with a cheek resting on my hand or pointing out toward the lens brought out a distinct visual tension against the loose garments. With numerous attendees lifting cameras amidst the bustling crowd, stepping before the lens meant snapping instantly into character: locking eyes on the lens, keeping the gaze sharp, and avoiding stiff movements. Wearing a short skirt with combat boots left my legs bare; although the hall was well-air-conditioned, darting around still worked up a sweat. Gravity kept pulling the wig downward, requiring regular touch-ups to the bangs to keep my line of sight clear. Yet reviewing the shots coming together on the camera display made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Sparkle possesses extraordinary expressive charm—her cynical, playful, yet energetic persona translates naturally through exaggerated accessories and spirited eyes.

The fabric carried a delicate sheen that bounced soft highlights under flash photography, particularly making the white cartoon bunny motifs on the sleeves pop strikingly against the red-and-black base. While posing at the booth, I noticed many passersby stopping to snap pictures, with little kids pointing and giggling at the waist bunny plushie. The venue lighting shifted constantly between harsh overhead spotlights and warm yellow booth lights, demanding subtle, continual repositioning to prevent dead, unflattering facial shadows. As a cosplayer who frequently hits conventions, I've gathered reliable tricks for swift shooting at commercial booths—such as using props in hand, like an empty Master Kong Iced Tea bottle or a phone, to ease awkward hand placement. Poses like holding up my phone for a selfie were authentic, candid moments caught on the fly. The overall vibe at the Firefly Day 1 booth was fantastic; while bright yellow brand backdrops can be notoriously tricky for outfits, the red-and-black palette grounded the tones and made my skin look luminous. All in all, from hair, makeup, and garment fidelity to on-site stage presence, I poured my absolute best into this shoot.
