This time I tried the look of Cirno from Touhou Project. Huge thanks to my friend for generously lending me this costume, giving my wardrobe a special expansion. The overall color scheme is primarily ice blue and white, paired with a massive bow, her iconic ice crystal decorations, elf ears, and snowflake embellishments on the wig. Visually, it perfectly fits the setting of the "Ice Fairy".
The shooting location was chosen by an open waterfront; the blurred city skyline in the background creates a cool and vast atmosphere. The light was very soft that day, providing excellent conditions for presenting the details of the makeup and wig. The blue colored contacts and eye makeup were specially enhanced for a translucent feel, hoping to recreate the character's personality traits of being both innocent and a little smug.
The reflection off the water interacted beautifully with the lace and tulle fabrics of the outfit. Especially the transparent-textured ice crystal wing prop refracted delicate glimmers at various angles, requiring repeated adjustments during the shoot to get a satisfying result. The craftsmanship of the costume is exquisite; the dark red bow at the neckline is the crowning touch, providing a visual centerpiece for the overall light color tones.
This shoot gave me new insights into lighting and environmental integration for outdoor cosplay photography. The diffuse reflection from the water is truly perfect for showcasing light-colored characters like this. Although moving props and adjusting the wig took a lot of time throughout the process, seeing the final photos made it completely worth it. I also hope to have more opportunities to try other characters from the Touhou series in the future and experience the joy of different styling and makeup looks.
