[Rimuru Cosplay] That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime - Outdoor Photoshoot Share

This time I'm sharing a Rimuru Cosplay photoshoot, taken outdoors on April 10th as the weather warmed up. Because the character's setting is closely connected to nature, I deliberately avoided studio shoots and chose a park with dense trees and interwoven waterscapes as the main location, hoping to give the images a more vibrant atmosphere.

Let's start with the preparation for this outfit. The blue long coat features the iconic asymmetrical wrap front design, tailored three-dimensionally to fit the body's lines. Large areas of soft, fluffy white faux rabbit fur trim are stitched onto the neckline, cuffs, and boot tops, creating natural motion when blown by a gentle breeze. The long white plush tail on the back was sewn separately and secured with a belt, so I had to consciously control my strides while walking to prevent it from swinging back and forth too violently.

For the wig, I chose silver-blue long straight hair with fine strands, which creates a wonderful sense of movement when walking. However, it was quite windy on the day of the shoot, and the wig frequently blew across my face or got caught on nearby tree branches. I had to stop every few shots to let the photographer help touch up my hair, but thankfully we captured a few beautiful moments where the hair naturally billowed in the wind.

As for the boots, I matched the character's signature blue fur-trimmed short boots, with shoe lifts placed inside to make the overall body proportions look taller and leaner. On my ankles, I wore semi-sheer black stockings, which made putting on and taking off the boots and stepping on rocks outdoors more convenient, while creating a nice visual layer transition.

Regarding props, the long sword and the white circular object with black totem patterns were specifically prepared for this shoot. Although the blade of the long sword is made of a safe soft material, the handguard and hilt were crafted with detailed metallic textures. Whether holding it with both hands or a single hand, I had to constantly adjust my center of gravity so that the poses appeared calm yet powerful.

The compositions throughout the set are rich and varied. On the rusty red soil of the dawn redwood forest, the afternoon sun pierced through the tree trunks, creating distinct lines of light and shadow; here, I consciously portrayed the character's calm, composed, and effortless expression. In contrast, for the bench sitting shots and the scenes on the stone steps by the water, I chose more relaxed postures—leaning slightly forward or back—trying to capture the character's easygoing yet cute charm in daily life.

Photographer Shehua is great at capturing textures under natural light. The golden sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the blue coat perfectly fit the character's aura. During the shoot, in order to coordinate with high and low camera angles, I frequently switched between standing and squatting postures. Combined with the heavy coat, it was quite physically exhausting, but seeing the final visual results made every bit of effort worth it.

I didn't apply overly heavy post-processing filters, preferring instead to preserve the lush green of the trees, the golden yellow of fallen leaves, and the navy blue of the outfit. This raw texture of outdoor photography touches me even more than studio shoots sometimes, because every scene is unique and impossible to replicate. I hope this Cosplay photoshoot effectively conveys the character's pure yet powerful essence.
