Braving the outdoor location in high temperatures of nearly forty degrees, looking back now I still feel that I was truly full of energy that day. This shoot was for a Yae Miko cosplay from Genshin Impact, and from the initial preparation of this outfit to pressing the shutter, the entire process went unexpectedly smoothly. I originally thought the high heat and cumbersome dressing would slow down the progress, but in the end, it took only about an hour to finish the shoot efficiently. This was thanks to sorting out the costume details in advance and the extremely fast, tacit understanding and coordination on set between me and the photographer.
The color scheme of this costume looks exceptionally translucent under outdoor natural light, and the splicing of blue, white, and red forms a beautiful color balance with the pink hair. The golden hair accessory on top of the head has a strong sense of structure, but wearing it requires some thought to fix its position so it doesn't tilt during movement. The off-the-shoulder design is actually perfect for summer outdoor cosplay photography, beautifully displaying great shoulder and neck lines while maintaining a relatively fresh and breathable physical sensation. The gohei prop held in hand is the absolute soul of the movements this time. To make it look lighter and more natural, I specially adjusted the strength of my fingers when posing, neither gripping it too tightly nor letting the prop swing too wildly.
The pose in the first photo, with hands on hips pointing at the lens, actually incorporated some minor designs based on the character's own personality. The eye makeup, paired with purple contact lenses, presents an agile temperament that isn't purely about gentleness. The movements showing the sleeve drapes and raising a hand from a side profile lean more towards displaying the costume's cut and the layers of its decorations. The one making a V-sign carries a bit of a relaxed daily vibe, which is also the 'self-adjustment' phase I set for myself. After all, under such high temperatures, keeping expressions vivid is not easy; the photographer was adjusting the aperture while shouting not to look down, coordinating highly efficiently throughout the entire process.
The wig plays a crucial role in modifying this styling. The fluffy layering frames the face shape beautifully, and paired with the slightly scattered hair strand design, it breaks the rigidness of traditional middle-part hairstyles. The fabric of this costume has a certain level of breathability and drape, so it won't appear stiff under wide-ranged movements. The shooting team communicated swiftly, completely avoiding prolonged exposure under the scorching sun. This experience also made me realize that a great outdoor photo set relies not only on post-processing精修 (fine editing) but that fast early-stage planning and streamlined movement design are equally important, allowing one to find the best shooting rhythm in a short time. The light and shadow presented in this Anime-style photo set look very soft, and the background formed by the lake water and green trees gives the entire frame a realistic touch outside of the anime atmosphere. The successful completion of this photo set made all the fatigue of the shooting day completely worth it.
