This time I am bringing you the look of Surtr from Arknights in her Ambience Synesthesia version, which carries a completely different temperament from her original combat attire. This white gauze dress paired with red ribbons has a classic and elegant feel, and together with the headpiece wings and black horns, the overall visual effect is quite unique. For the shoot, an indoor scene with stained glass windows was chosen. The light and shadow filtered down through the windows, combined with some backlit angles, making the red color of the wig look more translucent.
This costume has many details in its accessories, especially the golden chain around the neck and the metal rings on the arms, which took some time to adjust into position when putting them on. The photographer and I collaborated for quite a while during this cosplay photography session. Because the skirt hem is relatively long, and there are golden leaf decorations on the waist and legs, I had to be careful not to press against the accessories when sitting or standing to avoid deforming them. For this kind of large-scale studio shoot, lighting is highly critical—it needs to emphasize the main red color tone while ensuring the white gauze parts do not look monotonous.
The texture of the costume performed exceptionally well under the lens; whether it was the sheen of the red bows or the silver dot embellishments on the skirt hem, the details were restored quite well. When preparing this styling for this red-haired character, I specially looked up many reference images to match the theme as closely as possible. Although the wig has a vibrant color, layers can still be captured under specific lighting. The whole process actually went much smoother than imagined, and everyone should be able to feel this unique atmosphere upon seeing the photos. I hope this version of Surtr through the lens can bring everyone some surprises.
