[Qingque cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Slacking-Off Joy in Cosplay Event Photos

Finally got the event photos from Day 2 of the Honkai: Star Rail Carnival! The theme this time was crystal clear: fully immersing myself in that casual, easygoing, and joyful state of mind.

I have to say, the experience at the exhibition venue was off the charts. The lighting and setup inside the hall that day were spot on, especially the set of Chinese-style wooden tables and chairs we picked. Placing them inside an industrial-vibe convention hall created a wonderfully magical sense of time travel. The huge red-and-blue mecha model behind us also possessed immense presence; standing there, I genuinely felt transported into some ingenious and bustling fairy realm.

I was really looking forward to it when photographer Liekong-sang invited me for a photoshoot, as I've long admired the natural and translucent textures in their work. On-site, their control over light and shadow was truly professional. For example, while shooting by the table, the photographer utilized overhead lighting and reflectors to render my complex teal-blue-green outfit with clear layers, making the natural reflections from silk and linen parts look incredibly real. Special thanks to the photographer's guidance in composition—those candid poses standing, sitting, or capturing the split-second I held small props felt even more vivid than deliberate posing.

As for this makeup and styling, I prepared for a pretty long time. When doing trial makeup at home earlier, I felt the eye makeup needed extra work to highlight a lazy yet clever demeanor, so I intentionally did a slightly upturned winged blending at the outer corners of my eyes. Paired with the light gray wig, I was quite satisfied with the result. The side hair clip and fluffy white headpiece were little details among the props I really loved; wearing them instantly perked up my overall vibe. The costume tailoring was extremely well-fitted, especially the red string knots and tassels around the waist, which swayed dynamically while walking around the hall, matching the black platform ankle boots to deliver a very comfortable color contrast.

I actually ran into quite a few fellow fans at the Honkai: Star Rail Carnival venue, and exchanging compliments on costume details felt truly heartwarming. I think one of the happiest things about game cosplay is meeting friends who love the character out in public through careful coordination. Since it was packed that day, there were slight hiccups during shooting with crowds occasionally passing by, but photographer Liekong-sang always keenly seized quiet gaps for candid snapshots—a tacit understanding that is truly rare.

Seeing the final finished photos, I felt truly touched. Many people feel that Cosplay event photos are limited by environment and time, making immersive atmosphere hard to achieve. Yet in this collaboration, whether it was the light and shadow in the corner or the massive mecha backdrop behind me, that unique aura was captured flawlessly. I didn't try to play cool or put on airs in the photos; instead, I relaxed as much as possible to present a slack-off everyday attitude—a relaxed vibe of being ready for "another round" at any moment.

As a cosplayer who frequently frequents anime conventions, I well know that high-quality event photos require the joint effort of makeup/styling, photography, and logistics. From morning makeup and hair styling, to carrying heavy bags around the venue, to searching everywhere for good camera spots—exhausting as the process was, seeing these captured moments in the camera made everything feel completely worthwhile. Cosplay itself is a passion and form of self-expression, and I hope my efforts bring a touch of joy to everyone viewing these photos. This photoshoot experience was delightful and filled me with even more anticipation for upcoming convention events. That's pretty much it—sharing a few frozen moments I deeply love with you all.
