[Sora Kasugano Cosplay] Yosuga no Sora: Lazy Afternoon At-Home Photoshoot

This indoor private photoshoot chose a Japanese-style tatami as the main backdrop. Combined with this loose white nightgown and black bow hair accessories, the overall style leans toward a lazy, fresh, and at-home vibe. In interpreting Sora Kasugano, I specifically focused on the slice-of-life feel this time, hoping the captured photos wouldn't look like forced poses, but more like a record of a real, casual afternoon.

In choosing and styling the wig, I went with a soft off-white long straight wig that carries a gentle sheen instead of looking artificially white. To make it look closer to natural hair texture, I thinned it out slightly before wearing and added a breathable mesh cap underneath so it wouldn't feel too stuffy even when shooting in summer. The crown portion retained a natural puffiness, and combined with the subtle framing strands on both sides, it beautifully flattered my face shape and elongated the overall silhouette. The black crisscross hair ribbon was a lovely accent in this look, as the simple black anchored the overall white theme and visually balanced the head area.

Regarding the outfit, this white cotton nightgown is the main piece. The fabric is extremely light and breathable, and the loose cut fits the character design perfectly. Small black bows on the cuffs and skirt hem served as the perfect finishing touch, adding a lovely sense of detail. To match the home setting, I chose white slouch socks for the lower half, slightly elongating the visual proportions of the legs while maintaining an innocent yet casual charm rather than looking too revealing.

For the makeup, I chased a clean, translucent \"no-makeup\" look. I used a lightweight, hydrating foundation for the base, intentionally preserving the skin's natural texture. For the eye makeup, I avoided heavy eyeliner, opting instead to deepen the contours slightly with earth-toned eyeshadow, then focused on the eyelashes by layering individual clusters one by one to create a naturally thick but not overly exaggerated effect. In expressing my gaze, I would deliberately zone out a bit to maintain a soft, slightly dazed state—the perfect emotional tone for an at-home shoot.

The set design for this shoot was incredibly detailed. A multi-layered wooden cabinet was decorated with wine bottles, a folding fan, green plants, books, and even a vintage tape recorder. On the floor, we placed tatami cushions, a retro blue-green electric fan, and a goldfish bowl. Together, these props instantly transported the scene back to a slow-paced, nostalgic past. Especially the transparent glass goldfish bowl—the goldfish swimming inside refracted the water ripples onto my body, creating a very unique light and shadow effect.

The black plush bunny I held in my arms is the core prop of this set. Its moderate size was perfect for filling the space between my chest and arms, giving my hands a natural place to rest during posing and avoiding any awkwardness of not knowing where to put them. Its dark, grey-black plush texture also formed a strong color contrast with the white outfit. There was also a massive brown teddy bear used to weigh down the bottom of the frame, making the overall composition look more grounded and balanced.

During the shoot, the photographer told me to ignore the camera as much as possible and imagine spending a normal weekend in this room. I tried lying sideways on the floor, leaning against the edge of the bed, or curling up in a corner with the bunny. I paid close attention to keeping my body relaxed, avoiding any joint protrusions caused by over-tensing. The poses showcasing my white socks and house slippers also enhanced the everyday life vibe of the images.

In terms of lighting, we took advantage of the natural light pouring in obliquely through the wooden lattice windows. We didn't use excessive lighting equipment to brighten my entire face; instead, we preserved the contrast between light and shadow in the room. The sunlight fell beautifully on the folds of the clothing and the edges of the hair, forming a gorgeous rim light that gave the frame a warm, film-like texture. In post-processing, we retained this slightly grainy, low-saturation warm yellow tone without over-smoothing the skin.

This at-home shoot felt entirely different from past studio sessions, as it tests one's ability to control the atmosphere. No exaggerated expressions or movements are needed; you simply stay quiet in that space, letting the character and the scene merge into one. In this way, what the photos recorded was not just a costume, but a quiet and comfortable fragment of emotion. I truly love this sense of quiet refinement.
