Deciding on an outdoor swimsuit photoshoot for Lumine from Genshin Impact at an outdoor swimming pool in the blazing summer heat was indeed a true test of makeup durability and physical endurance.

This time, I brought a summer-style outfit for Lumine. The entire look uses white and light blue as the main color scheme, and its freshness perfectly fits the poolside environment. The hair accessory—a white-petaled flower with a blue bow and yellow stamen—paired with the light blonde wig, is key to recreating the character's aura. The costume specially features an off-the-shoulder design, combined with black criss-cross straps and a ruffled choker. The orange teardrop pendant at the center of the choker rests right at the visual center, and the open neck space gives the whole look a more breathable feel. The sleeves feature a white translucent lantern design with elastic ruffled cuffs, accented by light blue ribbons and tiny charms that create a light, airy fluffiness as they sway in the water. Simple white bead bracelets on the wrists add rich detail without feeling cluttered.

The difficulty at the shooting site lay in the light and shadows. Reflection off the water surface was very intense, which could easily cause uneven lighting on the face. Working with photographer 亦未寝, we focused on the reflection angles of the light, utilizing diffuse light scattered by water ripples for facial fill-light, which created a soft, tender skin texture. For poses, I tried squatting inside a swim ring resting my arms while looking straight into the lens, leaning sideways against the pool railing looking back, and a close-up sitting directly in the water with only the upper body in frame. These actions nicely amplified Lumine's personality traits—quiet with a touch of lively grace.

Staying in the water for a long time required extra care in maintaining makeup and wig styling. Coupled with pool buoyancy and the instability of the swim ring, my body had to hold specific angles constantly so the costume folds would drape naturally; shooting on water is indeed much more physically demanding than on land. However, the blue mosaic tile backdrop was incredibly photogenic; the deep blue water ripples and light-colored clothes formed a clear contrast of warm and cool tones, making all the hard work feel completely worthwhile. In recreating the character's expressions, I didn't deliberately copy in-game actions; instead, starting from her gentle nature, I shaped the character through eye contact and relaxed poses, giving the final shots a touch of everyday life feel without stiffness.

The transparent swim ring prop in this photo set also played a huge role. It provided practical floatation while not obscuring outfit details or character shape, and the translucent material refracted underwater light to enrich the visual color layers. While taking photos, I tried to relax my shoulders and neck as much as possible to avoid any visual misperception of fear of water or awkward stiffness. The final color tone of the photos turned out very fresh, without heavy saturation, preserving that unique aesthetic where Genshin Impact characters blend coolness with softness—making it a very smooth Swimsuit cosplay record for this summer.
