[Shiroko Sunaookami Cosplay] Blue Archive Gymnastics uniform, Light/Shadow and Sweat in the Equipment Room

This set of photos was shot in a school equipment room. The grayish-white metal shelves, stacked cardboard boxes, a wooden vaulting box, randomly scattered volleyballs, and a trophy quietly placed in the corner all built an environment that fits this Gymnastics uniform look perfectly. Because I wanted to highlight the athletic feel and a young girl's energy, I specially chose this real-scene setting filled with the atmosphere of an everyday P.E. class.

In terms of makeup, to coordinate with these bright blue eyes, I deepened the eye contours to make my gaze look more focused. The silver-white wig was styled to be relatively fluffy, retaining a few stray strands so that when sunlight streams in obliquely from the high windows, a beautiful rim light appears on the edges of the hair strands, echoing perfectly with that pair of gray plush animal ears on top of my head.

Regarding the clothing, the design of this Gymnastics uniform is very thoughtful. The pure white short-sleeved T-shirt has a navy blue piping around the neckline with a looser silhouette and slightly open cuffs. The lower body features standard dark athletic shorts with white stripes on the side and a drawstring detail. The White stockings reaching over the knees are a major highlight of the entire outfit; the material is slightly sheer, which beautifully accentuates the leg shape while ensuring a clean, refreshing feel overall. To match the casual, everyday vibe of the Gymnastics uniform, I remained barefoot throughout the entire shoot.

For this shoot, I tried several different postures, hoping to bring out that sense of fearlessness and agility inherent to the character. The first photo is a slightly forward-leaning, high-angle close-up; this perspective beautifully captures the character's focus when looking straight into the lens, which, combined with the halo from the overhead light, adds a touch of dreaminess to the frame. The second photo utilizes the wooden vaulting box—resting my chin on both hands while lying flat on it and glancing sideways perfectly stretches the body lines, allowing the White stockings and gym shorts to be naturally emphasized in this composition. The third photo shows me lying directly on a blue wooden slatted bench, with one hand gently touching my abdomen and the other resting beneath my head; combined with the scattered hair strands and the scoreboard in the background, it displays an extremely relaxed, lazy feeling, as if just finished with an intense workout and taking a brief rest. The fourth photo is a back view reaching for a trophy at the top of the shelf; this slightly tiptoed posture is highly dynamic, with sunlight pouring in from directly behind, outlining the character's silhouette. The fifth photo is a close-up sitting cross-legged on the floor, hands propping against the ground as my body leans forward, with a blue, white, and yellow tri-colored volleyball sitting right in front, frozen in that exact split second of preparing to dive for the ball.

In the utilization of light, the photographer intentionally used the semi-enclosed space of the equipment room to allow the elevated light to form rim lighting and overhead lighting. This relatively crisp light source actually gave the frame a lazy atmosphere unique to a classroom in the late afternoon. Under the backlight, the silver-white hair strands and fluffy animal ears were surrounded by warm yellow halos at the edges, injecting a wave of warmth into the originally cool-toned wig and White stockings.

When shooting this set of photos, I actually wanted to convey a sense of reality after exercising, rather than simply displaying the outfit. The Gymnastics uniform itself is an athletic outfit that leans toward practicality; under a static lens, combined with this cluttered equipment room background, it instead contrasts a pure sense of aesthetic beauty. The pairing of White stockings and athletic shorts is probably what many people remember school P.E. class looking like, serving as a symbol filled with vitality and youthfulness. Although many people nowadays might find wearing it this way a bit vintage, it is precisely this classic uniform feel that fits the character's setting and temperament much better.

In the scheduling of props and scenes, besides the essential volleyball elements, the number plates on the wall also became embellishments for the composition. For instance, the 11 and 45 number plates above my head when lying flat added a sports competition setting feel to the frame's background, breaking up the monotony of solid backgrounds. Of course, the side drawstring of the athletic shorts and the neckline details of the short-sleeved T-shirt were also clearly expressed under the macro lens. When reaching up to grab the high trophy, the lower hem of the clothing pulled slightly, exposing a bit of the waist and abdomen—this kind of unintentional moment is often much more natural than deliberate posing. Actually, the floor of the equipment room is laid with wooden flooring, and the tactile texture of stepping on it barefoot feels very authentic; though it could be a bit cold at times, for the sake of the frame's clean and crisp feel, this little sacrifice was entirely worth it.

Many times, cosplay is not merely about putting on a piece of clothing, but more about restoring the character's state and demeanor within that specific scene. This Gymnastics uniform doesn't have too many gorgeous decorations; it might just be the most ordinary look from a P.E. class, but precisely because of this, it appears more lifelike and easier for people to immerse themselves in. The wrapping feel of the White stockings is just right, preserving the crispness of sportswear while adding a hint of the character's unique lightness. When the sunlight falls upon the scoreboard, I feel as if I truly spent an ordinary afternoon in this school—dribbling the ball, resting on the bench, and then casually picking up the trophy, feeling that coziness after a P.E. class finishes.

After shooting the entire set of photos, although my body is a bit tired, it was indeed incredibly satisfying. Because of this kind of real-scene shooting, the sense of participation from the props and environment is very powerful; without needing too many post-production special effects, the frame already possesses a strong sense of storytelling. I hope this attempt filled with the flavor of daily life can also let everyone feel the unique charm beneath this everyday sportswear look.
