The Convention photos from this Firefly ACG Expo are finally edited! I picked out a few shots I'm particularly satisfied with to share.
When choosing this character for an outdoor location, I considered many different presentation styles. This time, I specifically selected a relatively quiet corner at the convention venue to capture a casual set of Convention photos under outdoor natural light, hoping to reproduce her languid yet slightly mysterious vibe.
For makeup and hair, golden-yellow long hair with straight bangs are the character's signature traits. I carefully trimmed the bangs to make sure they wouldn't block my vision. The elf ear props were meticulously blended with my skin tone, while reddish-brown eye makeup was used to echo the character's iris color and soften her gaze. The wig was carefully styled the day before the convention, minimizing static and frizz to ensure a polished look on location.
Regarding outfit styling, I chose this white halter dress with a prominent pink bow. Its cool, airy cut was comfortable enough for a crowded and stuffy venue. The large bow at the neck serves as the main visual focal point; I even manually aged and shaped the edges of the straw hat to add a raw, rustic touch. While I couldn't find a suitable donut prop this time, I adapted on the fly by using a light blue suitcase as a seat—making it easy to swap poses on location while substituting as an interactive element.
For camera angles, the photographer intentionally chose a slightly high-angle downward perspective to complement my posture seated on the luggage. This framed my facial expressions while incorporating both my leg lines and the layered dress hem into the shot. The location was near a metal fence with the background naturally blurred by the lens; combined with the ambient convention crowd in the background, the scene has a casual, slice-of-life feel.
During retouching, we avoided exaggerated skin smoothing or heavy filters, aiming to preserve original skin texture for a more authentic result. Though the convention was crowded, shooting went smoothly once we found the right camera angles. Cosplaying characters I truly love and experiencing their unique personalities is the greatest joy of cosplay for me. Without extravagant sets or visual effects, simply documenting a day at the convention to present the purest character essence is more than enough.
