[Hifumi cosplay] Blue Archive Remedial Club Four-Member ID Photo Record

The idea of shooting ID portraits for the four members of the Remedial Club has been in the works for a long time. This time, we finally gathered all the looks for the four students—Hifumi cosplay, Shimoe Koharu cosplay, Shirasu Azusa cosplay, and Urawa Hanako cosplay—to present a dedicated set of uniform-style solo half-body ID portraits.

To fit the concept of "ID photos," we uniformly used a clean, pure white background and soft frontal diffused lighting to recreate the details of each sailor uniform, wig styling, and distinct iris colors as faithfully as possible. Although the composition aimed for clean and poised simplicity, the pre-shoot preparation was remarkably intricate, demanding meticulous attention without a single compromise.

Regarding uniform and prop preparation: the four sailor suits each have distinct cuts, collar styles, bow sizes, and button colors, requiring different fabrics and accessories for custom tailoring. Hifumi's yellow-and-black bow echoes her beige-blonde twin tails; Shimoe Koharu's silver-white short hair paired with purple floral hairpins and a white sailor collar with black trim looks cool and resolute; Shirasu Azusa's pink twin tails and green contacts appear vividly expressive under soft lighting; while Urawa Hanako's styling incorporates unique black wing headwear and a black choker that form a sharp contrast with her signature pink halo. Each wig required interior sectioning followed by precise trimming and styling wax, ensuring the bangs' length and thickness cleanly framed the forehead without obstructing the eyes.

The iconic halo props were an even bigger highlight. These floating halos were crafted from acrylic materials and various support brackets. To avoid visual flaws on camera, we spent extensive time figuring out how to secure top hair accessories while concealing wires and brackets using fine wire and bobby pins. To prevent the heavy halos from dragging the wigs down, the center of gravity was specifically shifted toward the back of the head, ensuring overall wig volume while maintaining stability throughout the shoot.

As a devoted fan of Blue Archive, bringing them into reality through cosplay felt truly magical. During shooting, I controlled each character's gaze based on their official illustrations: Hifumi's gentleness, Koharu's seriousness, Azusa's quiet calm, and Hanako's reserved composure were all carefully conveyed in the quiet stillness of these ID portraits. Soft lighting not only accentuated the texture of the uniform fabrics but also prevented harsh facial shadows, keeping the makeup clean and translucent. For eye makeup, matte earth tones served as a base, with eyeliner tailored to each character's eye shape—elongated or subtly upturned—complemented by distinct colored contacts and eyelashes to recreate that bright anime luminosity.

Professional cosplay often shines through details that are easily overlooked. The diameter of colored contacts, the natural curve of the wig bangs, and whether the bow tie is crisp directly affect the strength of the anime aesthetic. While this series may look like a simple set of half-body portraits, it underwent repeated refinement from costume tailoring and prop fabrication to lighting setup and makeup adjustments, with every step requiring patience and thoughtfulness. To ensure a cohesive style across all four portraits, identical lighting positions and focal lengths were maintained during shooting, and post-processing avoided excessive filters to preserve the authentic uniform colors and translucent skin tones.

Choosing "Four-Member ID Portraits" as our theme stemmed from how these school uniform designs perfectly embody the pure essence of the campus genre, harmonizing seamlessly with a clean photographic style. Though the entire shoot was demanding—facing minor hiccups like wilting hairstyles and wobbling halos—seeing the finished photos brought an overwhelming sense of fulfillment from achieving high character fidelity. Bringing beloved game characters to life through one's own hands and lens is the ultimate joy of cosplay. I hope this dedicated attitude toward the characters and photography shines through in these works, and I will continue exploring more possibilities of light and shadow to document even more fascinating cosplay creations in Blue Archive.
