The official cosplay shoot of Shimoe Koharu from Blue Archive is finally complete. The setting in the photos is an authentic classroom environment, where dark wood-grain desks and chairs combined with chalk illustrations on the blackboard naturally lend a strong academic atmosphere to the raw shots. We avoided excessive color grading in post-production to preserve the warm yellow lighting, resulting in an exceptionally soft overall tone.
The costume styling is primarily pink, white, and navy blue. The loose-fitting pink top is very comfortable, draping naturally without looking bulky. The black choker and small wings on the back serve as visual anchors, while the yellow bucket hat and semi-transparent pink halo create a color combination that is both eye-catching and harmonious. The white over-the-knee stockings paired with white-and-pink Mary Janes look pristine against the classroom's wooden floor, creating a clean white stockings portrait where leg lines naturally extend.
During the shoot, several props were prepared to enrich the visual narrative—such as a white envelope, a brown-covered book, and a petite pink plush doll. Posing as if handing over the envelope or sitting on the edge of a desk with legs stretched out required no exaggerated movements; the naturally emerging shyness and playfulness fit the everyday campus setting perfectly. In the standing close-up set, wearing the yellow canvas bag crossbody, placing hands on hips, and slightly tilting my head made the composition wonderfully full. We also intentionally shot languid, relaxed frames sitting on the floor with shoes taken off and placed beside me, instantly softening the ambiance.
The layout of the classroom provided plenty of room for improvisation, such as leaning against the wooden storage lockers or holding a book while subtly turning toward the camera. The chalk sketches on the blackboard and a globe enhanced the authenticity and lived-in charm of the setting. It is worth mentioning that in the seated set on the floor, the photographer found a lower camera angle to capture the elongated extension of the legs; despite minor watermark marks in parts, the overall lighting atmosphere and dynamic posing tension turned out great.
When defining the post-processing tone, we placed the emphasis on rendering the pink hues, allowing this adorable color to pop vividly against the dark wood tones and deep green blackboard. The brightness of the white stockings and the pink accents on the shoe tips also echoed the yellow hat nicely. Rather than forcing exaggerated wide-angle distortion, we used medium-to-telephoto focal lengths to capture facial nuances and garment details; whether shielding the face with a book or waving while seated on a stool, the emotional expression in every frame felt more genuine.
In addition, magazines scattered across the floor and that small pink plushie added a touch of casual dynamism to the spacious setting. Looking back after wrapping up, the posture of crossing legs on the wooden stool and kneeling on the floor faithfully recreated the effortless, relaxed state of the character's daily life. Furthermore, the spliced split-photo set is one of my personal favorites: shielding the sun with a book on top, and covering the face with the book below to let only the eyes convey emotion, looking especially agile. Overall, for this campus photography style in a familiar setting featuring a moe anime girl, the focus is not on complicated post-processing, but on styling synergy and candid captures, making the final photos feel like spontaneous moments captured on a quiet classroom afternoon.
