For this edition of the Manqiu Comic Convention at the Xiamen Jimei Citizen Square Exhibition Center, I cosplayed the Platelet from Cells at Work!. Although this costume appears simple on the surface, it actually involves numerous subtle details that need fine-tuning. The wig is a vivid, bright amber-orange; to keep it silky and prevent frizz, I spent considerable time grooming it the night before and treated it with smoothing spray. For makeup, rather than an everyday look, I deliberately deepened the eyeshadow and wore enlarging circle lenses, accented with highlighted aegyo-sal and lower lash line shimmer to get as close as possible to the character's wide-eyed, animated gaze.

In terms of accessories, along with the white lettering baseball cap, there was a small yellow crossbody satchel, a yellow whistle, and a little yellow flag emblazoned with '通行禁止' (No Thoroughfare). Waving the flag during poses was surprisingly demanding on wrist strength, as I had to constantly adjust angles so the fabric wouldn't flutter up in drafts and cover my face. When holding the whistle, stuffing it directly into my mouth to puff out my cheeks would distort the facial muscles, so I held the posture right up until the shutter clicked to keep my expression natural and earnest.

The convention was packed over those two days (August 8–9), and the summer heat was intense. The photographer, Antares, worked tirelessly to scout a relatively quiet, dim area for the shoot. Because the backdrop was dark, lighting became exceptionally critical; this high-contrast chiaroscuro effectively brought out the vibrant color pop between the blue T-shirt and the bright orange hair.

For the seated shots on the floor, wearing gray shorts paired with those bulky color-blocked leg-warmer boot covers meant I had to constantly calibrate the angle of my cross-legged pose so the covers wouldn't look overly chunky. The slick floor also required careful balance. While physically demanding, seeing the final deliverables made all these adjustments worthwhile. Because the character carries a dutiful and responsible demeanor, I kept my expressions focused and even slightly solemn while saluting or blowing the whistle, rather than merely beaming a standard smile at the camera.

The yellow flag prop, with its bold red 'No Thoroughfare' text and emblem, was remarkably eye-catching. Holding it made me genuinely imagine I was directing traffic and maintaining order. The shoot itself was a continuous journey into character—starting from initial stiffness to eventually interacting with props with fluid ease. I met many passionate fans and convention-goers who shared photos and chatted, creating a fantastic atmosphere. As a cosplayer, breathing life into a character through wardrobe, props, and body language is an immensely rewarding experience.
