[Wakaba Mutsumi & Sakiko Toyokawa cosplay] A Frozen Moment of Ave Mujica's School Style

This shoot features a school-life casual look for Wakaba Mutsumi and Sakiko Toyokawa from Ave Mujica. For the styling, the basic navy long-sleeved uniform with a sailor collar carries a strong authentic feel, paired with a taupe ribbon and a standard deep blue plaid pleated skirt on the bottom. To accurately recreate the characters' unique features, the hair colors were chosen as a cool light blue and a mint green respectively, with long straight hair and straight bangs, along with some subtle braided details.

For the set, we chose a white wooden window frame prop covered with light blue roses and green leaves, backed by a layer of semi-transparent white tulle. This natural and fresh blue rose background wall actually demands a lot from the lighting and environment setup. We shot on an outdoor terrace, where the afternoon natural light filtered softly through the leaves and curtains onto the characters. During the shoot, the two sat on the window sill. In the second photo, they leaned closer, holding hands. As their eyes stared straight into the camera, it perfectly combined the static flower wall with a subtle dynamic intensity from the characters.

For footwear, we chose basic black loafers paired with white calf-length socks. This classic Japanese school uniform ensemble makes it easy to walk and move around, enhancing the everyday realism. During the shoot, we paid close attention to the stitching details on the uniform's collar and cuffs, as well as the flow of the plaid skirt's pleats. Since the wig bangs were quite long, we frequently adjusted the curve of the wigs and bangs during the session to ensure they didn't block the eyes, keeping the characters' gaze highly focused. The light blue and mint green hair colors of the wigs tended to look a bit washed out under strong light, so in post-processing, we avoided too much color shifting, striving to preserve the natural texture and transparency as seen by the naked eye.

The white wooden frame base of the set perfectly echoed the light blue roses, and the draping effect of the sheer curtains added depth and a sense of space to the frames. Their legs, shoes, and socks in the sitting posture naturally extended beyond the edge of the base. As one of the cosplayers in the shoot, my partner and I repeatedly adjusted our transitions two or three times, finally freezing the perfect moment where our hands intertwined and our eyes stared straight into the camera. This kind of interaction in a casual setting looks much more natural, leaving fewer traces of deliberate posing. This is also a set of photos that we are extremely satisfied with.
