[Wakaba Mutsumi cosplay] Black & Red Throne and Gothic Style Photography: Ave Mujica's Night Stage

From setting the baseline to the actual shoot, this set of Wakaba Mutsumi (Ave Mujica) photos accumulated quite a few details I want to share. The core concept of the whole photoshoot was the extreme conflict between cold and warm tones: a mint green wig and amber contact lenses provided a cool visual starting point, while the makeup featured a bright, clear base paired with slightly upturned light eyeliner to preserve her detached yet stubborn temperament as much as possible.

The outfit utilized a gorgeous gothic ensemble built on red, black, and white. Beneath a classic red beret was a black top embellished with gold thread embroidery, while white lantern sleeves and a necktie softened the dark oppression. The lower half paired red shorts with double-breasted gold buttons, combined with black pantyhose and black patent leather platform shoes. This red-and-black color clash created a solid texture on camera, while the combination of stockings and platform shoes added rich layers to the outfit, making it easy to display leg lines and styling details across various poses for this Stockings cosplay look.

A lot of effort went into setting up the photoshoot venue. The European-style red throne, intricate gold-carved picture frame, red wooden cross, and large clusters of deep red flowers perfectly matched Ave Mujica's intense dramatic tension and mysterious vibe. The use of the mirror prop was particularly striking; in frontal shots, the mirror reflected the skeleton and scattered flowers in the background, adding an intriguing narrative layer that invited rich imagination.

During the shoot, photographer @世纪语 proved adept at handling prop interaction and portrait composition under deep depth of field. We made several attempts using the golden frame—some with half-blocking compositions in front of the body, and others featuring back-facing interactions standing before the mirror. All movements and facial expressions were kept restrained and calm, avoiding exaggerated smiles or dramatic expressions, capturing Wakaba Mutsumi's quiet, distant, and slightly detached demeanor. Adding red ambient lights during shooting gave the studio a psychedelic, dreamlike atmosphere, which made the mint green hair pop out even more against the dark red background.

In post-processing color grading, I intentionally refrained from making the image overly bright or transparent, opting to preserve the saturated red tones to highlight the solemnity of the cross and the vintage texture of the carved frame. The editing direction avoided over-smoothing the skin, naturally preserving eye makeup and lip traces to find a balance between anime and reality. Honestly, wearing the wig for a long time pressed tightly against my forehead, and maintaining poise under a wide aperture required steady control, but seeing the storybook feel and quality of the final images made the entire experience full of pleasant surprises. Exploring this expression of Dark aesthetics with melancholic nuances is truly worth trying with all one's heart.
