This dual photoshoot experience was truly amazing; from the costume, makeup, and props to the scene's lighting and shadows, everything perfectly matched the dark gothic atmosphere we wanted to express. Sakiko Toyokawa's iconic blue hair and demon horn props were polished for a long time, and the wig was styled repeatedly to maintain a clean drape. Wakaba Mutsumi's mint green long hair and that heavily substantial black lace top hat were also full of details. The texture layers of both dresses are very rich, with black leather waist cinchers paired with tulle and lace on the skirt hem, capturing light and shadow changes wonderfully in front of the lens and presenting a high-end texture.
The state on the day of the shoot was exceptionally good, and store manager DD's control over light and shadow was simply god-tier. The warm yellow ambient light in the hall formed a strong visual contrast with the cool-toned costumes, giving the images a strong narrative feel. In the second picture sitting on the steps, I am wearing black patterned stockings, and my leg lines are fully displayed under the wide-angle lens, paired with Wakaba Mutsumi's posture of leaning in with eyes closed—that hidden tension between the two instantly came out. In terms of props, the glowing sword in hand worked surprisingly well in low-light environments; when holding the hilt horizontally, the cold light inherent to the blade intertwined with the warm light of the background, giving a strong sense of pre-battle fatalism.
Shang Xuetu's expression management for Wakaba Mutsumi was on point, nailing that slightly lazy yet melancholic feeling. Whether standing or sitting, we were constantly adjusting our poses, trying to find the sense of sharing a frame that best matched the temperament of these two characters. Especially in the third picture featuring the large scene with the trailing long dress spread out, the wide-angle low-angle shot instantly expanded the composition, with the lake-green inner skirt hem and the black outer mesh tulle train layering over each other on the steps, maximizing the visual impact. Holding that green rabbit plush toy neutralized some of the inherent coldness of the clothes, adding a touch of liveliness.
This "Muku-Saki" duo photoshoot was truly an extremely enjoyable creative process. From the initial concept discussion to constantly trying new angles and actions on site, every finished photo felt right on aesthetic point. The details of this outfit are worth looking at repeatedly, such as the spider neck ornament on the chest and the straps on the gloves—every detail stands up to scrutiny. I am extremely satisfied with the overall effect, and I hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future to fully unleash and spark creativity.
