For this Honkai: Star Rail tour stop in Guangzhou, I brought a total of three cosplay outfits: Castorice, Herta, and Firefly Bridal. From hair and makeup prep to outdoor shooting, I pretty much poured all my energy into this project over the past period.

Let's talk about Castorice's set first. The elf ears were a crucial highlight; wearing them required specialized medical glue to secure, and the edges had to be concealed with skin-toned concealer to look natural. The purple-pink wig needed layered trimming, and the flower and butterfly accessories on the crown were prone to falling off while moving, so I used plenty of bobby pins to lock them down. The backless design of the dress demanded high posture control; to capture flattering back lines, my shoulder blades had to stay slightly retracted the entire time. The white hollow-out leg sleeves on the lower half paired with purple high heels required extra caution while walking, but under night photography rim lighting, the overall color accuracy was exceptionally high.

For Herta's coordinate, the biggest hurdles lay in the props and the hat. That massive purple gradient magician's hat required an internal wire frame to hold its shape, otherwise it wouldn't stand up at all. While the staff prop looked gorgeous, holding it for extended periods was genuinely heavy. To capture Herta's cool, aloof presence, the makeup emphasized deeper eyeshadow layering. Black Stockings paired with tall boots featuring lace-up or lace trim details—during night shooting, direct front flash cast sharp shadows against the stone walls and ground, which, combined with a slightly stern expression, delivered strong 2D anime tension.

Firefly Bridal brought an entirely different vibe. The silver-white long straight hair featured a subtle cyan-blue gradient, and maintaining the strands required smoothing spray. The multi-layered tulle skirt was terribly prone to static electricity, requiring constant careful smoothing during the shoot. Since we were at the convention venue, the background featured abundant lighting and floral arrangements; with a wide aperture and a foreground bouquet of blue-and-white hydrangeas blurred out, visual focus remained sharply locked onto the subject's face and costume details.

Night photography demands rigorous light control, and I was constantly experimenting with flash output power and angles to illuminate the subject while preserving the nighttime ambient atmosphere of the background. Although running around carrying heaps of heavy props and garments was exhausting, seeing those interlacing moments of light and shadow on camera made every drop of sweat completely worth it. I reaped plenty of satisfying frames and spent an exceptionally fulfilling day with everyone.
