The set design for this shoot was a retro sci-fi aesthetic I had long wanted to try. To match Asuma Toki's character persona, the location was deliberately chosen inside a server room crammed with vintage CRT monitors, oscilloscopes, and a maze of intricate cabling. The overall color palette was anchored in a cool Cyberpunk blue, accented by glowing blue neon tubes coiled across the floor to cultivate an icy, mysterious digital cyberspace atmosphere.
In terms of styling, the wig featured pale blonde hair with straight blunt bangs. The VR headset overhead with its glowing blue halo was the centerpiece of the entire setup, trimmed with white ruffled fabric along the edges to blend mechanical elements with soft textures. The navy blue and black paneled Bodysuit was remarkably flattering to body lines; to enhance the sci-fi edge, long black arm sleeves with white piping were added, stamped with a crisp white numeral '04'. The legs were styled with over-the-knee White stockings and black garters. The snug fit of the suit instantly defined my silhouette, which, paired with blue contact lenses and red lips, brought out the character's calm, detached, yet subtly assertive aura.
During shooting, glowing screen reflections from the retro monitors and luminous white light cubes served as our primary light sources. The chaotic orange and blue cables running through the server room turned into a richly textured backdrop beneath the cool light. In framing, I utilized a black leather office chair as an interactive prop, experimenting with diverse poses—draping legs over the armrest, sitting cross-legged, and crossing my knees—to best accentuate the texture of the White stockings and the fluid extension of body curves in static frames.
When holding the white sci-fi firearm prop, focus was placed on the sharpness of my gaze, striving to resonate with the cold machinery in the background. The shooting pace was fast and compact; lacking natural light, we relied entirely on speedlights and practical ambient glow to carve out dimensional depth. While handling highlights, special care was taken to suppress harsh reflections, preserving dark shadow details of the garment fabric so the transition between black and blue remained seamless on camera.
Regarding my interpretation of the character, I feel she embodies more than mere outward coolness; beneath the surface lies an effortless composure that commands all data with total ease. Thus, across many frames, I avoided forced or exaggerated combat stances, focusing instead on capturing that poised, slightly playful composure amidst the cluttered server racks. In post-processing, ambient environmental light was intentionally dialed down so the blue neon and White stockings could pop cleanly. I hope everyone can feel the distinctive allure of this digital cyberspace through these photos.
