For this Lumine photoshoot, the overall styling was based primarily on white, accented with light blue edgings and gold decorations. When I first received this costume, my immediate impression was the sheer abundance of details. Especially the metal components at the waist and skirt hem were crafted with solid workmanship. The black strap designs on the chest and back required careful tension adjustment when dressing to ensure the outfit wouldn't warp during high-range movements.
Regarding the wig, I trimmed a layered medium-short hairstyle, with the sides slightly flared outward. To stay true to the character's traits, I specially equipped golden amber contact lenses and elf ear props. The earrings required attention to angle during the shoot to avoid being blocked by the hair. The makeup portion focused mainly on a clean, translucent look, deeply accentuating the eye contours to make the gaze look more powerful when wielding the long sword.
The background for this shoot was a pure white studio setup, illuminated with very even high-key lighting. The advantage of this lighting setup is that it completely accentuates the subject's silhouette and costume colors, but the downside is that it places extremely high demands on costume texture and model poses, as there is no background to conceal anything. To showcase the character's dynamic agility, I poured a lot of effort into pose design. For instance, the posture of lifting the long sword with one hand required core strength to steady the body; the lunge-and-crouch sword-swinging pose demanded control over leg lines and skirt flare angles. Especially those flowing light-blue ribbons required the assistance of a blower to present a natural upward flutter before the lens.
The handheld sword prop carried a certain weight, and its golden hilt guard and tassels tended to entangle with the ribbons during swings, so the prop's trajectory had to be straightened out before every shot. The white tight-fitting leggings and gold patterns required constant mindfulness during prolonged crouching and stretching to prevent excessive creases. Wearing white short high-heeled boots with gold tips while maintaining a stable center of gravity and exhibiting a battle posture posed a considerable test of stamina and balance. To ensure a flattering skirt arc, a petticoat was actually worn underneath, which made the outfit appear fluffier during crouching actions but also increased movement restrictions. To capture that lunging forward photo, I repeatedly adjusted the force application point of my front foot's ball, ensuring the action carried offensive presence while maintaining body balance so the hair accessories wouldn't look awkward.
Throughout the shoot, I continuously adjusted my body language, attempting to inject dynamic tension into static photographs. The split second the skirt flared, the oppressive gaze directed at the lens, and the arc of hair fluttering with movement were all focal points for candid captures. Under the bright high-key white light, the white clothing was prone to overexposure, so the photographer made meticulous adjustments to camera parameters to preserve the light-blue lines and golden metal texture on the costume as much as possible. I, on the other hand, needed to slightly tweak my standing posture based on the lighting position so that facial illumination remained even, allowing the catchlights in my eyes to stay clear. The wig needed re-combing after every major movement, and the elf ears required adhesive touch-ups; these small maintenance tasks were a constant routine during breaks. Overall, this costume achieved an excellent balance between detail fidelity and wearability—although the metal decorations were quite heavy, wearing them truly helped me enter the character's mindset much faster. Coordinating with the photographer's light and shadow adjustments throughout the process, the final deliverables successfully achieved the anticipated visual results.
