[Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay] Capturing the Character's Charm in Cyberpunk style and Industrial style photography

Shooting this look for Hoshimi Miyabi (Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay) was mainly to recreate that coexistence of calm composure and extreme lethality intrinsic to the character. Today, I am sharing this standalone finished photo. The entire shooting process was quite hardcore—the vintage TVs, massive speakers in the backdrop, and on-site smoke filled the photos with a gritty industrial atmosphere (Industrial style photography).

Regarding the outfit, the animal ears (Animal ears and black stockings) on top needed to be anchored very securely, or they would wobble when walking. A white shirt and black tie served as the foundation, while the blue-and-black wide-sleeved outer coat was made of a structured fabric that maintained sharp silhouette lines. The metal buckle belts around the waist and leather straps across the legs were meant to make the body proportions look sleek and sharp, especially paired with these black knee-high boots that offer strong coverage while slimming the silhouette. Of course, to ensure flattering leg lines, wearing black stockings (Animal ears and black stockings) and tall boots in such a smoky environment was actually very warm, but adjusting postures was the only way to find the coolest vibe.

In terms of prop details, this polearm weapon was quite heavy; holding it for long made my arms ache. It features intricate mechanical details, like red and white buttons and indicator stripes. Posing with this weapon heavily tested core balance and arm strength. The movements aimed for clean minimalism—such as this standing pose propping up the weapon with one hand, which was designed specifically to accentuate the character's commanding aura.

For hair and makeup, to match the cold, stern gaze, the eye makeup was elongated, paired with dark contact lenses. The hair was trimmed super sleek and straight, with wisps of bangs framing the face to look sharp under cool lighting. The lighting used warm orange-yellow background rim light paired with cool white key light on the face; under this sharp contrast, it looked just like standing on a vintage racetrack in Cyberpunk style.

During this shoot, photographer @Gongyuan captured the on-set lighting and shadows with pinpoint precision. Pulling the camera back framed all the elements together, infusing the image with rich narrative depth. Post-processing color grading leaned into dark tones, highlighting the metallic glint and leather reflections, while the smoke veiled minor ground clutter to keep the focus squarely on the character. This heavy industrial texture truly tests post-processing control over mood. For a character with such strong faction identity, the most crucial aspect on camera is delivering that untamed yet laser-focused intensity.

Because shooting opportunities were limited, behind every presentable final photo lies repeated verification of every detail—from adjusting the wig to confirming shoe placement angles and even pacing my breathing rhythm, all to freeze the moment that best captures Hoshimi Miyabi in my mind. Portraying this character was an exhilarating challenge for me. Toughness and decisiveness are the core visual hallmarks of this character, so movements had to be crisp and the gaze completely devoid of hesitation. High-texture scenes like this require seamless synergy with the photographer and prop master. Without needing excess drama, simply standing there becomes the story itself.
