[Zelda cosplay] Natural Landforms of the Southern Hemisphere, Perfectly Recreating the Adventure of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

This set of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Zelda cosplay photos taken at the seaside in the Southern Hemisphere has finally been pulled out from the archives and sorted through recently. Looking back, that shoot was truly painful yet joyful, but it was also an outdoor location experience that I personally love very much.

The decision to shoot at the Australian seaside was because the natural environment here has an uncarved, rugged feel. From the dark gray multi-angled reefs to the crystal-clear tidal pools, and then to the stretching gentle beaches, this topography shares a striking similarity with the coastline of the Hyrule continent. When putting on this outfit, it truly felt as if I were immersed in the world of the game. The design of this costume is very ingenious; the green-and-white color scheme of the spliced tube top is not abrupt at all against the vast blue sky and sea, but rather blends seamlessly with nature. The short golden hair paired with elf ears, along with the decorations of braided necklaces and arm bands, gives the entire look a strong sense of immersion visually.

The weather on the shooting day was extremely supportive, with abundant sunshine. The first picture was taken in the shallows. At that time, to add more dynamism to the frame, I kicked up splashes in the water with bare feet. The seawater shimmered under the sunlight, and the splashes kicked up at that moment along with the surrounding ripples perfectly matched the character's lightweight posture of exploring the wild environment. The photographer captured it very accurately with a wide composition, which is why I ultimately chose it as the cover photo for this set.

When switching to the reef area, we changed the vibe. Sitting on large pieces of weathered reef, facing the distant azure waves, or standing by the water holding props and gesturing upward could all beautifully showcase the feeling of the character staying in the wild or exploring ruins. The reflection on the water surface in the third picture is such a big plus; the water surface of the tidal pool is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky and my silhouette. That serenity and vastness make the environment itself an excellent backdrop. Leaning against a massive rock wall with scattered gravel and shallows beneath my feet, this scene brings out the hardcore feeling of climbing and exploration in the game.

Among the five photos, there is also a full-body shot from the back, feeling the sea breeze on the beach and looking at the distant horizon—that sense of openness truly makes one feel relaxed and comfortable. However, although the shot effect looks very cozy, the reality was far from being as easy as it seems in the photos. The Australian sun was truly brutal; we shot under the blazing sun for over half a day. Although we applied sunscreen, the seaside UV rays combined with the intense reflection from the water surface and reefs caused both of us to fall victim.

After wrapping up, the photographer and I looked at each other and found that our shoulders and arms were burned bright red. Over the next few days, we experienced severe sunburn and peeling, and it took quite a while to recover. Although the price was a bit high, seeing this set of photos made everything feel worth it. The design of this outfit itself carries a sense of wilderness survival and light adventure, and the vast coastline of Australia happened to provide the most authentic stage for this adventure. Looking back at these photos now, I still miss that feeling of braving the scorching sun, feeling the sea breeze, and single-mindedly immersing myself in the character. Therefore, these few photos are not just simple image records, but a very real and unique creative experience under outdoor cosplay, serving as a beautiful archive of that sun, beach, and reef.
