[March 7th cosplay] Transforming into the Astral Express's March 7th with My Bestie - Image 1

Taking this duo March 7th mirror selfie with my bestie, seeing two pink-haired sweeties in the same frame instantly makes it feel like we've completely packed the cabins of the Astral Express. This time we are cosplaying the lively and photo-loving March 7th from Honkai: Star Rail. For the outfit details, we did our best to recreate the blue-and-white patchwork, the black leather corset, and the small accessories on the skirt hem. The wig was specially styled to be slightly fluffy, and combined with the gradient pink hair ends, it looks much more like it has that 2D anime airiness. The black boots with blue trim on our feet were also specially sought out, matching the visual focus of the original design perfectly.

While taking the photos, we deliberately struck playful poses, throwing peace signs while taking a selfie with the phone, treating the background on the other side of the mirror—which was stacked with cardboard boxes—as part of the authentic backstage atmosphere for our anime convention outfit. Honestly, every time we cosplay a young girl character with a touch of sci-fi elements, the most troublesome part is the accessories and layering, because matching the loose sleeves on the upper body with the waist cincher and thigh straps requires the look to be visually lightweight yet distinctive. For the makeup, I chose a clear base combined with pink and purple tones that emphasize the eyeshadow to make the sweet vibe stand out even more, while elongating the eyeliner slightly to prevent the facial features from being washed out by the pink hair.

The advantage of this kind of mirror selfie is that it allows us to manage both our expressions and the full-body coordination at the same time; and even though the lighting is somewhat random, the reflection in the mirror actually makes our skin tone look softer. This attempt didn't involve any complex actions, just recreating her usual playful and mischievous state, hoping that anyone who sees it will instantly think of her playful antics on the train. Every time after taking photos, I'll review whether the props and clothing folds look natural enough, since the essence of cosplay is bringing the character to life through details.
