In April, I shot a set of Aventurine cosplay photosets; the theme selected at that time was a relatively vintage European chess-playing style. Recently, hasn't the Honkai: Star Rail Fate collaboration mini-game gone online? I accidentally found that the dialogue between Aventurine and Topaz in the mini-game was almost exactly the same as the lines we designed when we shot this photoset. Especially that line, "I'm sorry, I've always only gone all-in," it perfectly restores the character's gambler essence. So this weekend I immediately took out the photos to re-layout them and piece them together with the game interface, which truly gives a feeling of breaking the fourth wall.

Speaking of this costume, the most exhausting part of cosplaying Aventurine is those fine gold thread embroideries on the uniform and that striking orange-yellow argyle necktie. The purple-gold color-blocked vest and coat pattern is very structured; it's actually quite hot to wear on the body, but to maintain the character's erect posture, I had to pay attention to straightening my back at all times throughout the entire shooting process. In terms of props, we were also fully prepared, not only having toy pistols simulating chips and gambling showdown setups, but also a chess set, and that poker card we added to the scene for this Cosplay photography session.

On the shooting day, we rented an extremely gorgeously decorated vintage private room. The deep red velvet curtains, vintage gramophone, and crystal chandeliers on the wall perfectly fit the character's setting atmosphere of "life is like a gamble." My partner, the coser for Topaz, and I actually frequently couldn't help but crack up during intervals due to rehearsing lines. For example, the line "Opportunities are, after all, reserved for those who are prepared," was originally a very serious line, but paired with Topaz's roast of "Sigh, he's showing off again," the interaction feel of the entire frame instantly maximized.

Hoyoverse did a great job with this collaboration mini-game this time. Whether it's the text Easter eggs or the event process design, it can be seen that it was designed with care. This kind of event that allows players to feel the vivid and three-dimensional personality of the character in the game is something I really hope to see more of in the future. As a coser, being able to restore these souls-endowed characters through photography and post-production in one's own way is inherently a very fulfilling thing. This time, the post-production was also thanks to my partner's help in processing, harmoniously blending the game UI with our real photos.

From scene construction to lighting adjustment, from clothing details to prop placement, every Convention cosplay photoset output means a period of preparation and run-in behind it. Although wearing a heavy coat and shooting indoors all day was highly physically demanding, seeing the final finished photos generate such a marvelous chemical reaction with the game collaboration makes me still feel that it was all entirely worth it.
