[Shenhe cosplay] Genshin Impact Shenhe Lantern Rite Black and gold qipao interpretation

This completed Shenhe cosplay shoot from Genshin Impact is finally ready to share with everyone. The design of this outfit is exceptionally meticulous: the core piece is a halter-neck, high-slit Black and gold qipao featuring golden tassels and metallic frog fastenings along the Mandarin collar. The asymmetrical hemline is layered over black tailored shorts, while the outer semi-sheer fabric reveals subtle grey-and-white floral patterns. The detached sleeves are black lantern sleeves adorned with golden auspicious cloud ornaments and crimson tassels. To recreate the character's aloof, cool composure, I wore a shoulder-length silver-white wig paired with bright cyan-blue contact lenses, focusing the makeup on defining sharp eye contours while keeping the lips a naturally flushed red.

The set dressing on shoot day was remarkably thoughtful: in front of a deep blue cyclorama backdrop sat black artificial rockeries and a monochrome crane figurine, accented by rippling water caustics projected in the rear. Handheld props included a white oil-paper parasol and a folding fan, though the centerpiece was undoubtedly the blue-and-gold polearm weapon; holding it through prolonged takes grew quite heavy, yet it commanded immense visual presence in action stances. The shoot was a true test of physical endurance—to complement the dramatic flow of the high-slit skirt, I wore glossy black pointed-toe stilettos, executing one-leg lifts and half-squat stances that demanded solid core stability to sustain balance. Thankfully, photographer @Xiongsan Yinghua guided poses skillfully, utilizing the rockeries and cylindrical pedestals to unlock countless stunning camera angles.

This shoot took place during Panasonic's offline LUMIX Beijing Songying Club event. The lighting on set was clean and translucent, accentuating the rich texture of the golden embroidery across the fabric. I deeply appreciate styling that merges classical Chinese aesthetics with 2D character motifs, where the black-and-gold palette stands out vividly against the cool blue backdrop. The metallic gold garter ring along the thigh and the red string wound around the fingers served as refined accents, enriching visual layers. Overall, the wardrobe and scenic design resonated seamlessly with the Lantern Rite ambiance, and I hope this series communicates Shenhe's distinctive presence to everyone.
