[Yakura Yomogi cosplay] BanG Dream! Rooftop corner before group photo shoot

For this BanG Dream! group photo shoot, the location was chosen on a rooftop with an industrial style. I arrived early before the shoot and unexpectedly discovered a small Japanese-style corner—the gray door with the green emergency exit sign and the blue sky and white clouds behind it as seen in the picture. The light that day was very strong, resulting in sharp contrast between light and dark. Coupled with the utility pole and metal railing nearby, it had a very special street feel.

In terms of styling, this time I cosplayed Yakura Yomogi. To fit the character's temperament, I wore a light purple-gray short wig, with makeup focusing on a translucent base and green circle lenses. Because the setting includes a background related to taking a leave of absence from school, I kept pondering that introverted, aloof yet slightly stubborn feeling. I chose a black off-shoulder long-sleeve top with rivet and strap designs on the chest and shoulders. The waist cincher and metal chains added overall layering and a dark style outfit vibe, while the lower body was paired with black shorts, fishnet stockings, and leg rings. The black leather collar and silver layered necklaces were also essential dark style outfit details.

During the shoot, the photographer Leng Shao Xiao Cheng was very good at capturing natural light and shadow and character emotions. The first low-angle shot looking up at the sky was actually meant to express the character's inner desire for the outside world and a state of confusion. The second shot, grabbing the collar of the clothes near the door frame, showed a relatively reserved and guarded posture. In the third shot, leaning against the wall and touching the collar while looking back at the lens, the gaze had more coldness and penetrating power, with the right side of the face sinking into shadows, adding a sense of mystery. The whole process took place in the wind and sunlight; although wearing black clothes under the sun absorbed some heat, seeing the light and shadow texture of the final photos made it completely worth it.

For doing cosplay, I feel that costume details and the character's psychological state are equally important. For example, the tightness of the leg straps and the natural drape of the chains all affect the naturalness of the person in the photo. This set of photos did not undergo exaggerated post-processing retouching, preserving the deep blue of the sky and the intense sunlight at the time, hoping to convey Yakura Yomogi's quiet yet slightly gloomy atmosphere. Feeling the wind and looking at the sky during shooting breaks, that calm feeling deeply resonated with the character setting, and also gave me a deeper understanding of this photo set.
