[Lemuen Cosplay] Arknights Ambience Synesthesia: A Joyful Offline Gathering

I started preparing for this Lemuen cosplay as early as 6 AM. Styling the pink long wig alone took over an hour of brushing; since I would be walking around outdoors at the World Expo Park, the natural movement of the hair was crucial, and it had to align with the massive golden hand decoration. I applied a slightly thicker base makeup, which, paired with the lustre of the pearl necklace, aimed for a visually striking impression. Upon arriving at the Expo Park, my first stop was checking in at the official photo backdrop—the area with illustration display boards shown in Picture 1. The overhead light there was very soft, and combined with this dress featuring off-white and pure white layers with gold piping, the outdoor texture turned out truly outstanding. The open-shoulder design paired with pearl chains beautifully displayed the garment's layering while walking.

After completing my look, I jumped into my most anticipated part: the offline interactions. Carrying a small bag filled with freebies containing nearly thirty different types of small items—including stickers and tin badges of less popular characters—I proactively greeted any Doctor wearing an Arknights T-shirt or carrying a merch bag. A photographer with a telephoto lens happened to pass by and caught a few quick snapshots of me. Many players on-site were intrigued by the damask pattern on the skirt, and we gathered to exchange tips on DIY props.

In the afternoon, I spent quite some time at the pop-up store in Jing'an Joy City, where foot traffic was immense. Many Doctors arrived carrying quicksand coasters and badges. Whenever I bumped into fellow cosplayers, we would willingly adjust angles to take photos together; Pictures 4 and 5 were captured during those moments. Passing Doctors kept saying to me, "You look wonderful today!" Praise among offline fans like this is so pure; without needing deliberate composition or photography angles, everyone was in a relaxed mood.

The entire experience really felt like a grand dream, yet its sense of reality shone through every detail. From random encounters at Xujiahui Metro Station to chatting about the concept of Critical Phase Transition with stranger Doctors while queueing at the Expo Park, everything felt so natural. The decorations for this Arknights Ambience Synesthesia 7th Anniversary were arranged with great care—the venue lighting combined with pixel-art visual designs on stage screens created a powerful sense of immersion. Even in the outdoor plaza, Doctors in various outfits could be seen, tacitly greeting each other and making way. The sense of belonging brought by such a vast offline community of fans is something no online community can replace.

After the evening stage performance ended, everyone gathered on the plaza outside the Expo Park with their respective merch, holding up various bunny plushies for a big group photo—just like the scene in Picture 6. Every edition of Ambience Synesthesia acts as a milestone, connecting Doctors from all over the world. For creators, seeing everyone dress up in their favorite outfits and bring their collected merch to keep this appointment brings an immense sense of accomplishment. Almost all the merch I brought to the event was showcased or traded away in the end. The tin badges, clear cards, postcards, and acrylic keychains spread out in Picture 3 are just a fraction of my social harvest. Each small item connects to a specific memory—some traded while waiting in line, others gifted by local Doctors met by chance at the exit. This randomness of meeting people filled the entire offline experience with anticipation. I hope the next offline anime convention can feature a venue of similar scale and quality; I will continue to present this outfit in my best state and enjoy offline gatherings with everyone who loves this work.
