[Shu cosplay] A Reluctant Farewell in Arknights

I have always wanted to record my thoughts regarding this Arknights Shu cosplay. Preparing the look for this shoot took quite a long time. The wig is pale yellow with a pair of blue deer antlers on top, and the ears are Elf ears props carefully glued in place. The braids feature a gradient color transitioning from yellow to deep blue, adorned with small pink, purple, and blue flower hair accessories, topped off with hairpins. To recreate the feel of the original 2D design, the outfit coordination was also very meticulous.

The outer layer is a purplish-pink coat with white faux fur and lace trim at the collar and cuffs, worn over a yellow cropped top. The waistband is made of brown leather with silver metal buckles attached. The tailoring fits the silhouette perfectly, and the materials feel high-quality.

In my hand is the glowing sword prop. The blade is made of translucent material with an LED light strip embedded inside, which looks fantastic when lit during shooting. It gets heavy after holding it for a while, but to maintain an imposing pose, I kept my arm extended while gripping the hilt throughout the shoot.

This photo captured a slightly fierce moment: left hand extended forward with fingers spread, gaze locked onto the lens—not too soft, so as to project the character's rightful presence. My makeup featured reddish-orange eyeshadow and light blue contact lenses, which, paired with red lips, presented a subtly assertive aura.

I was very pleased with the makeup, especially the crisp eye makeup. The costume's color contrast is striking; the expansive purplish-pink and bright yellow look vivid on camera. The shoot took place outdoors at a convention, where the ground was somewhat drab, so the photographer used a shallow depth of field to blur the background and make the character pop completely.

Seeing that line in the post—"What will I do if you leave, Shu?"—was truly moving. In Arknights, the bonds between characters are always profound. In lore, Shu is a gentle yet quietly devoted figure, and getting to cosplay her made me feel deeply connected to her story.

Looking back at the shoot, the lighting angle was just right, making the glowing blade appear especially dazzling. Rather than overly complex poses, this simple, direct gaze into the lens conveyed that sense of determination much more effectively. I adjusted my line of sight and hand position multiple times before capturing this front shot that I was truly satisfied with.

The prop's edges tended to snag the fur trim of the costume, so I had to be very careful during shooting. The overall styling and post-processing worked seamlessly together, avoiding excessive skin smoothing to preserve authentic textures. For anyone who loves this character, capturing her true essence is immensely rewarding.

The final photos turned out even better than expected. Although we shot from many different angles, this particular composition and expression are my favorites. Whenever I look at this photo, I remember the entire shoot and feel the emotional resonance that Shu brings in the game's story. Cosplay photography, costumes, and props are all about the details—dedication always yields wonderful results.
