[Misaki Shokuhou Cosplay] A Certain Scientific Railgun: Tokiwadai Middle School's Queen of Mental Out

Putting on the beige V-neck knit vest and white shirt of Tokiwadai Middle School, paired with a well-fitted grey pleated skirt, then putting on that long straight blonde wig and special contact lenses with star-burst patterns, along with applying the star mark on my neck—the preparation for the entire look was complete.

What I love most about this uniform is the matching of details. The knit vest features reddish-brown stripes and a shield-shaped crest on the left chest. Paired with white gloves and a white cross-body leather belt, it gives off a very preppy, academy vibe. For the bottom half, I chose a grey pleated skirt paired with white over-the-knee socks and classic black loafers, which both elongates the leg line and brings out the freshness and elegance unique to campus-style characters.

During makeup, to fit the character's temperament, I deliberately emphasized the eye contours. A pinkish-purple eyeshadow base, combined with special contact lenses featuring star-burst and cross patterns, gives a very unique shine under light sources. Combined with a slightly deep berry-toned lip glaze, the entire makeup look is clean yet carries a touch of mystery. The pale yellow five-pointed star mark on the side of my neck was the finishing touch, significantly enhancing the overall look's recognizability.

The photoshoot location this time was an indoor studio equipped with drapes and a floor-length mirror. In the mirror selfie in Photo 3, you can see the black backdrop cloth, silver light stands, and a shoe rack in the corner behind me. The pink arched-frame mirror clearly presents the character's full outfit from head to toe, perfectly showcasing the Anime-style fashion pairing of white socks and a pleated skirt.

During the shoot, I mainly focused on finding a state of confidence and composure. After all, this costume carries its own character aura, requiring no overly dramatic body language—standing tall or making a subtle gesture easily exudes an air of having total control over the room. Holding the phone in white gloves while making a simple peace sign felt like the most natural state.

Speaking of the wig, this golden-yellow wig has ample length and thickness. The layered trimming at the ends looks very natural, and paired with straight bangs, it looks extremely photogenic on camera. Wearing it for long shooting sessions didn't feel too heavy either.

The texture of the white over-the-knee socks really added points on camera, while the flat black loafers are a very practical item for daily wear too. Walking around the studio in this outfit, I could feel the subtle charm of youthful vibes merging with the character setting.

When adjusting lighting, a softer front light was chosen to complement the texture of blonde hair and white socks. Under this lighting, the outlines of the white socks and loafers appeared exceptionally sharp. During breaks between shots, I constantly adjusted the belt and crest placement to ensure every detail achieved optimal visual effect. This process of repeated fine-tuning was itself a test of patience and dedication.

Although the photos present simple standing poses and selfies, the preparation behind the scenes was quite extensive. From selecting fitting contact lenses to ironing the shirt flat and adjusting the vest shoulder seams, a lot of thought was invested. Only by treating every camera appearance seriously can one convey the character's most touching temperament.

Trying out characters with distinctly iconic features brings its greatest joy in restoring every detail. Whether it's the patterns on the pupils or the coordination of accessories, assembling these elements together ultimately gives the character a concrete manifestation in reality. Combining everyday life feel with 2D expressiveness—this is my very own immersive Misaki Shokuhou cosplay experience.
