[Yae Miko cosplay] Genshin Impact: This Touch of Pink Belongs to Spring's Cherry Blossoms

Just before the cherry blossom season came to an end, I finally managed to complete this outdoor shoot for my Yae Miko cosplay of the Genshin Impact character. Although the process was a bit eventful, I'm very satisfied with how the final photos turned out, so I'd like to share my specific thoughts and feelings about the details of this photoshoot with everyone.

First, let's talk about the preparation and location selection for this shoot. To fit the theme of cherry blossoms, I deliberately avoided traditional artificial studios and relied entirely on natural outdoor light for cosplay photography. The cherry blossom grove at the location was in full bloom, radiating natural vitality. To match this setting, I chose a white, modified dress with Chinese-style elements. Even though it's cosplay, I feel that wearability and comfort are equally important. The dress features a tailored fit with cute flutter sleeves at the shoulders that beautifully accentuate the arm lines, while the side slit incorporates thin cord tie-backs and lace stitching, creating a flowing feel when walking. Compared to standard shrine maiden outfits, this lightweight modified style makes it much easier to move around in complex outdoor terrain without easily getting dirty.

The wig and accessories were the highlights of this look. To accurately recreate the character's disposition, I custom-ordered a light pink wig and specifically requested a fluffy, textured styling so that it would have a soft, airy quality when swept by a gentle breeze. The bangs couldn't be too heavy; leaving appropriate skin exposure and light transmission was crucial to make the eyes look bright and lively. The white silk flower hair ornament on the left side of the head, paired with the geometric earring featuring a gold frame and sapphire on the right, served as the crowning touch around the face. Under direct sunlight, the sapphire refracted a translucent halo, which the photographer specifically captured in close-up shots, adding a touch of playfulness and mystery.

As for props, I selected a pink round fan. The fan surface was similarly painted with floral patterns and fitted with long pink tassels. This prop not only echoed my overall pink-and-white color scheme, but also elegantly solved the slight awkwardness of not knowing where to put my hands in front of the camera. Using the round fan for partial cover, half-face shielding, or resting it lightly behind my back as seen in the photos added strong interactivity and vividness to the frames. In close-up shots, the fan also created a double layer of texture and color harmony with the cherry blossom grove in the background, making it an extraordinarily useful shooting assistant.

Honestly, doing an outdoor shoot with such a specific theme presents significant challenges. First, cherry blossom blooming periods are short, requiring precise timing to capture peak bloom; second, in wild outdoor environments, finding a relatively clean background free of clutter and passersby requires the photographer and model to repeatedly shift positions and search for angles. On the day of the shoot, both lighting and wind cooperated wonderfully—the soft afternoon sun hit gently without casting harsh shadows, making my skin tone look very natural. While taking these photos, I tried my best to maintain a relaxed and cheerful state, capturing dynamic moments rather than striking rigid poses. The angle looking back with a soft gaze is my favorite, as it not only displays my side profile contour but also establishes a deeper connection between my gaze and the backdrop.

Sorting through the final photos, I felt all the hard work during this outdoor shoot was completely worth it. I hope to convey that romantic spring and cherry blossom season atmosphere through these images. This immersive cosplay experience gave me a much more three-dimensional understanding of the character. A 2D character who is usually flat in the anime world gains real-world vitality and approachability through live-action interpretation. Although it's cosplay, I still strive for high quality in overall presentation—from wig styling and garment neatness to environmental harmony, every detail impacts the final aesthetic beauty. This photoshoot experience has allowed me to accumulate more insights for future outdoor shoots, and I look forward to creating more works in different styles during good weather in the future.
