Testing out a Self-styled try-on coordinate today—finally getting around to trying pieces I bought ages ago. This white button-up shirt was honestly an unexpected purchase; looking at the official photos back then, I thought the tailoring seemed promising, but upon arrival, it turned out to be completely boxy and straight-cut with zero curvature. Wearing it straight off the rack made my silhouette from shoulders to waist look boxy and rigid, almost like a walking rectangle if left unstyled. As a base piece chosen for cosplay fittings after much deliberation, I couldn't just leave it languishing in storage.

So today's fitting focused entirely on rescuing this shirt using accessories. The most straightforward solution was tucking the hem completely into the waistband. I chose high-waisted black tight Leather shorts to visually push up the waistline and elongate the lower body proportions. Since the shirt fabric is fairly crisp, tucking it in created organic gathered folds, which nicely counterbalanced the tight fit of the leather shorts and kept the torso from looking stiff.

The lower-body coordinate was the true centerpiece of this fitting. I put on black Fishnet stockings, layered under shiny black Over-the-knee boots. These boots feature buckle hardware and a lustrous patent finish that flatters the calf lines beautifully. The over-the-knee shaft left an intentional gap of about ten centimeters below the hem of the shorts, allowing the fishnet texture to peek through—visually lengthening my legs while injecting captivating visual dimension. To keep the all-black lower half from feeling overly heavy, I also pulled out a pair of white arm sleeves and gloves. The sleeves are crisp white accented with black buttons, harmonizing with the black Leather shorts and boots while echoing the white shirt up top.

The black bunny ear headband atop my head was the soul of the entire Bunny girl cosplay look. Without it, this outfit would just read as standard uniform style, but the moment the bunny ears went on, the vibe transformed instantly. While taking mirror selfies, my big white dog kept circling around me before plopping down on the floor gazing up at me—it looked so hilarious that he ended up making a cameo in the very first photo.

For the photos, I held my phone up to block my face out of practical necessity; after all, trying on outfits at home without studio gear or professional lighting means working angles purely in front of a full-length mirror. In the frontal standing shot, while the shirt's straight cut is somewhat noticeable, the color contrast remains balanced. For the profile angle, I deliberately stepped one leg forward while angling my upper body toward the mirror, maximizing the lines of the Over-the-knee boots and Fishnet stockings to create a tighter composition with elongated proportions.

A cosplay fitting session is really a process of re-evaluating how clothing interacts with your own body proportions. While this Self-styled try-on might diverge from canon costumes, every individual piece was recombined according to my frame. Poor shirt tailoring is no dealbreaker as long as bottom pieces and accessories are styled intentionally to achieve a sharp, polished outcome. This straight-cut shirt definitely taught me a lesson to check shoulder and waist measurements carefully before buying. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this try-on—recombining idle wardrobe pieces to uncover optimal visual results brings immense fulfillment. Even with limited space at home, a full-length mirror and a touch of patience are all you need for a fantastic styling experience.
