For this outdoor shoot of Everson, it took about two weeks from trial makeup to setting the location. The material of the elf ears cosplay is soft silicone; to ensure it doesn't reflect light in front of the lens and fits the face shape, the edges must be carefully covered with skin wax to present a natural feel. The silver-gray wig features blunt front bangs and double braided pigtails; the tightness of the pigtails needed to be repeatedly adjusted to look both everyday and retain the lightness of a 2D anime character. In terms of clothing, light blue lace trim is layered with white tulle fabric, and the flowers on the chest and multi-layered lace choker on the neck visually add a sense of layering. To match the white over-the-elbow long gloves, I specially chose white leg rings with light blue stripes, echoing the overall blue-and-white color scheme.
The shooting location was chosen in a place with outdoor tables and chairs, where red vending machines and wooden wine barrels are faintly visible in the background, a color contrast that keeps the frame from looking too monotonous. CZ sunlight on the day was very strong, and the photographer used a reflector to fill in the dark areas of the face. Under hard light, the texture of the tulle clothing and the texture of light and shadow projected on the skin were particularly obvious. The pose in picture 1 was actually meant to express an atmosphere of waiting and laziness, supporting the cheek with one hand and staring straight at the lens, trying to convey the quiet yet slightly expectant feeling of the character waiting for the Commander.
To showcase better picture effects, I put some thought into action design. The action of turning sideways to tidy hair in picture 2 can naturally reveal the back lines and the slimness of the arms, while allowing the layers of the pigtails to extend within the frame. Picture 3 chose a posture where both legs are crossed and extended forward; this sitting posture can maximize the visual proportion of the legs, while the leg rings and bare feet add a sense of breathing to the frame. Sitting barefoot on the wooden table, the soles of my feet could actually feel the wood texture and the warmth of the sunlight, and this real tactile sensation helps present a more relaxed state in front of the lens.
Since it was outdoor summer outdoor photography with natural light, the light changed very quickly over time, and all actions had to be completed within a specific time frame. Under such strong light with mottled shadows, facial expression management was very important to avoid squinting due to harsh light, so the gaze had to be adjusted before each shoot. Overall, the color tone of this set leans toward warm white and light blue. Restoring Everson's image in Azur Lane cosplay is not just a replica of clothing, but a recreation of a summer afternoon seaside atmosphere through elements like sunlight, wooden tables, and bare feet, completing a creative experience that highly fits the setting. The entire shooting process was quite exhausting because the outdoor temperature was not low, and wearing the wig and gloves was quite stuffy. However, seeing the light spots formed by the sunlight on the skin in the finished photos and the magical feeling brought by the elf ears, it felt completely worth it. This set of pictures has no complex post-production special effects, relying mainly on natural light and in-camera portrait color grading to preserve the real light and shadow texture as much as possible.
