[The Shorekeeper cosplay] A Touch of Blue and White Before the Convention's Glass Curtain Wall

The biggest challenges during this shoot at the anime convention venue were the tricky lighting and cluttered surroundings. The glass curtain wall produced heavy reflections, requiring great patience from the photographer to find a clean composition. With crowds constantly bustling through the anime convention venue, avoiding passersby in the frame made focusing considerably harder. To channel The Shorekeeper's signature ambiance, I chose this blue-themed outfit with starry gradient tones. The skirt had far more tulle layers than it appeared; when sitting down, I had to carefully smooth out the sheer fabric to prevent wrinkles. The corset was laced so tightly that I could barely eat—a classic anime convention experience.

The contact lenses were a soft, pale purple, paired with clean, translucent makeup and long light blue hair to create an airy, weightless aesthetic. White ribbons wrapped around my wrists and ankles, accented by silver and white butterfly elements that added intricate detail to the styling. Arranging the butterfly props during the shoot was crucial—they needed to look as if they had naturally fluttered down onto the floor or rested gently on the hem of the dress without looking rigid. Special mention goes to the clear-heeled high heels: because the soles were transparent and offered minimal grip, and the material was quite stiff, prolonged standing placed a heavy strain on my ankles. Sitting down on the floor to shoot felt like absolute relief.

A white plush rug was arranged on-site, allowing me to spread the dress train out fully. Since the floor was rather cold, the mat provided wonderful insulation. To maintain the skirt's graceful flare, I had to continuously adjust my sitting posture. Because the chair was too high, I opted for a semi-bent leg pose, which preserved the garment's flowing lines while beautifully highlighting the visual effect of my legs accentuated by the transparent heels. Throughout shooting these three photos, the photographer guided my subtle adjustments—tilting my head slightly or extending my legs forward to make them look more elongated.

With crowds packing the venue, the photographer framed shots in front of the glass partition to keep passersby out of view, using reflections to add visual depth to the frame. Although the background looks like an open street, it was actually inside a bustling commercial exhibition hall. That contrast was fascinating—the exterior hustle and bustle contrasted against the tranquil serenity captured within the glass reflection.

Every time I put on an intricately crafted cosplay costume, I gain a deeper appreciation for the thought behind the character's design. Securing the headpiece was a major undertaking, requiring dozens of bobby pins and adhesive to make sure nothing slipped during the shoot. The Shorekeeper feels both profound and gentle to me; hearing her line, 'Rover, welcome back to my side,' sparks pure immersion. Even amidst the noisy venue, when someone called that line out to me, it truly felt like breaking through the dimensional barrier.

This shoot was not just about faithfully recreating the costume, but also paying tribute to the character's story. Looking closely at these photos, the natural drape of the sheer skirt and the refractive shimmer of the starry veil translated remarkably well in the final edits. In particular, the ankle strap design combined with clear heels gave my lower body flattering proportions. Seeing the final results, I felt deeply satisfied with my facial expression management and body language. I hope that through these photos, fellow fans of this character can feel the dedication poured into every costume detail and character nuance.
