Shooting this finished shoot of Fourth Sister Cosplay from Black Myth: Wukong truly satisfied my craving for dark Ancient style cosplay. The entire costume carried substantial weight: deep navy jacquard fabric woven with subtle dark motifs, paired with a black inner lining and golden belt accessories, feeling heavy and rich in hand. To embody the character more closely, the makeup deliberately emphasized the forehead and under-eye floral huadian ornaments, using dark eyeshadow blending to craft an eye look with a demonic, weary allure. Paired with a towering ancient-style chignon and golden hairpins, the completed look captured the character's genuine spirit right after setting.
The studio environment was intricate and demanding; to recreate the dark, dilapidated, spiderweb-entangled setting from the game, the scene was draped with artificial white cobwebs, augmented by red and blue-violet LED arrays alongside red lanterns. Dry ice fog continuously blanketed the floor. Such a setting posed an intense trial for both the photographer and the cosplayer. Because lighting was dim, to capture crisp frames and clear gazes, we asked the photographer to use wide-aperture lenses and added a compact softbox specifically for my face. The reclining pose in the shots—looking alluring and indolent—was actually derived from repeatedly shifting my center of gravity on a narrow couch to find the right angles; under the interplay of warm and cool lights, the skirt hem and leg lines revealed a uniquely poignant, fragile beauty.
The dynamic scenes with the Destined One (Monkey King) were the highlight of the shoot. My partner's black-and-gold armor was exceptionally sharp, and the facial hair detailing was crafted with great precision. During movements involving pulling and entanglement, the silk threads constantly caught on armor and accessories; after every take, we had to help untangle each other, giggling mid-process. Yet once locked into character, when Monkey's massive hand reached out to grasp the small sphere, our eyes clashing in confrontation instantly sparked an electrifying tension.
Speaking of a demonic cultivator photoshoot, it is essentially about seeking vital spark amidst extreme chaos and dim light. Using mirror reflections, foreground red gossamer, and cobwebs to obstruct visual flaws, we snapped emotional peaks within the golden three seconds before the dry ice dissipated. During color grading, I deliberately dialed back highlights from the red lanterns and amplified shadow contrast with blue tones, imbuing the composition with cinematic depth. When game characters stepping into reality, every shutter click feels like mending those lingering heartaches left unresolved in the game.
