The Yongqing Fang series photoshoot has now reached its fourth installment, with myself modeling. To do justice to this Ancient style cosplay shoot combining outdoor location and studio sets for Wuthering Waves Iuno cosplay, plenty of advance preparation went into the work. For the wardrobe, I selected a white-dominated Hanfu style featuring an outer layer of lightweight sheer chiffon that billowed gracefully during walking or posing. Golden crescent moons and floral embroidery adorned the neckline and skirt hem, cinched at the waist with a subtle jacquard gray sash, paired with blue and golden flowing scarves that resonated with Iuno's original blue hair. Hairstyle-wise, the blue high twin-tails needed to retain fluffy volume, requiring plenty of styling products, accented on both sides with golden-tasseled hairpins and blue-and-white floral headpieces. For makeup, bright blue contact lenses were paired with a delicate touch of reddish blending at the outer corners of the eyes, aligning closely with the character's demeanor in front of the lens.
The shoot setting was richly decorated: in the studio, a massive circular glowing backdrop and ink-wash painted folding screens were erected, dotted with faux pink cherry blossoms and red maple leaves, complemented by several luminous hanging lanterns. For props, we prepared a blue round fan with gold edging, a guzheng zither, and antique book scrolls. I explored many diverse postures this time, ranging from sitting upright on a wooden chair to reclining gracefully on a daybed. In accordance with the character design, the entire shoot was done Barefoot, with specialized drawn markings painted across the instep and golden bead anklets adorning the ankles. For the side-reclining set on the daybed, multiple angle adjustments were made to accentuate leg contours and let the skirt drape naturally. The scenes playing the guzheng and reading scrolls called for quiet, composed poses and a gentle gaze.
Shooting the entire set was quite physically demanding, especially while maintaining expansive, relaxed poses in multi-layered garments. The lighting relied primarily on the massive circular backlight to carve out rim lighting, making the subject pop distinctly against the intricate backdrop. Between early prep and real-time adjustments on set, we finally brought this complete visual set to life.
