Bringing Jie's character from Arknights to life proved to be an exhausting endeavor of both physical stamina and creative intellect. To embody the scholarly demeanor of this member of The Sui Siblings, extensive effort went into the wardrobe and hair design during pre-production. The dragon horn-shaped hair ornaments atop my head required repeated angle adjustments to sit firmly and look organic on camera, while the tiered layers of the wig had to be combed with pristine clarity to eliminate stray frizz. The sweeping dragon tail trailing behind me demanded natural arrangement while seated; combined with the multi-layered robes adorned with subtle checkerboard grids and traditional Chinese motifs, every micro-shift in posture meant carefully smoothing the hemline and draping the voluminous bell sleeves.
Set design was the undeniable cornerstone of this shoot. I specifically selected a traditional Chinese study featuring deep-toned timber curio shelves and intricately carved wooden screens. To evoke the canonical lore steeped in historical manuscripts, archives, and official chronicles, we scattered stacks of classical scrolls, correspondence parchment, and calligraphy brushes across the flagstones. As seen in the final frames, a long white silk scroll inscribed with cursive calligraphy spans the floor, bordered by woven bamboo trunks and lacquered wooden caskets. This was far more than mere set dressing—it served as the conceptual key to understanding her psyche. That poetic sentiment, 'Constant revisions passing like a flowing river,' resonates profoundly with this exact scene: those intricate texts and endlessly drafted records, like relentless torrents of river water, pool together into a colossal and solemn historical backdrop.
Lighting on set was remarkably precarious to control. Crafting that side-backlit, warm amber glow reminiscent of late sunset or flickering candlelight placed extreme demands on reflector positioning and camera exposure metering. Fortunately, our photographer possessed sharp optical intuition, and we waited patiently inside the study for the golden light angle to strike. The moment warm rays sliced through the latticed screens to graze the parchment and flowing silks, the transcendent mood of the chamber solidified instantly.
As a cosplayer, my duty goes beyond merely displaying garments—I had to inhabit the psychological weight of this figure within this sanctuary. Perhaps she had just endured an arduous stretch of drafting, or felt the quiet exhaustion that comes from countless redactions and overwritten words. Thus, rather than defaulting to an austere, rigid posture, I relaxed my shoulders and leaned partially to the side, letting the heavy, broad sleeves pool naturally around me. This subtle nonchalance and deliberate touch of disarray grounded her in authentic vulnerability. This entire production underwent an exhaustive polishing cycle from concept to wrap: from sculpting the wig and inspecting garment weaves to staging the sea of scattered scrolls and metering the lights, every heartbeat poured our team's deepest dedication into the craft. I truly hope everyone resonates with our interpretation of this world.
